This is as much a review of our Gold Mountain Manor experiences as it is a personnel critique of several snarky reviews. Our family reserved the Manor for a large wedding in July, 2009 and the owner and staff made it a lasting and wonderful memory for all. When an unexpected summer thunder storm threatened to drown the outdoor ceremony, Manor staff performed a miracle and moved the entire wedding, including tables, into the main lodge. Everyone was pressed "up close and personal" but it went off without a hitch. Amazing! Several times since then, family members have returned and without exception have had very positive experiences. We all are looking forward to a reunion at the Manor, this July. Our opinion of Gold Mountain Manor's owners, hosts and employees, are that they are courteous and professional and determined that their guests have a rewarding stay. For those negative reviewers, their disappointment was not due to Cathy and her staff's intent to ruin their stay or "cheat" them, as one reviewer stated. With the current economic climate, the last thing an owner want's is unhappy clientele. Yes, the Manor is rustic, that is a part of it's attraction. If you don't want rustic, pick something more in keeping with your tastes. Do your homework. Google Earth or Bing Maps will tell you a lot about a location and it's surroundings. When you have an issue with property or personnel, being confrontational or aggressive is not likely to gain you what you want.

From the moment of check in with Cathy, everything about this B & B is amazing. Cathy is one of the warmest and coolest person you will ever meet. My husband and I first stayed here about 7 years ago in the presidential suite, back then we were only boyfriend and girlfriend ...... Since then we have been back a couple of more times as husband & wife.

Our most recent stay was this past July (2013) and we had an amazing time. We always stay in the presidential suite. The huge spa tub is simply devine, along with the milk powder that is complementary.
The bed is very comfortable. The entire place is BEAUTIFUL inside & out. We truly enjoy the hammock and the stunning grounds.

The gourmet breakfast is DELICIOUS. They make a delicious lemonade and home baked cookies that are so yummy.

We will be back this May and are totally looking forward to it. Big Bear, is so pretty and there is tons to do. Trust me, you will have a hard time leaving this amazing place.

Cathy, has become a wonderful friend and we look forward to catching up with her. My husband and I have been to several different B & B's, although they were all really nice, THEY DON'T HOLD A CANDLE TO "THE GOLD MOUNTAIN MANOR."

The experience is so wonderful and peaceful...... It's AWESOME!!!!

We highly recommend this place to everyone. It is loaded with so much charm, inside & out!!!!;)

My husband and I stayed at Gold Mountain Manor for our 5th wedding anniversary. We had such a lovely time! I have a gluten allergy and Robin was so accommodating for my needs. She went out of her way to let me know what was gluten free for breakfast and the evening appetizers (which was almost EVERYTHING). If you're GF, you know what I treat that is! :) Robin also knew what restaurants in town had GF options, and her recommendations were fantastic! (Maggio's makes their own GF crust, and I loved my pizza SO MUCH that I ate half of it there, and the Peppercorn Grill - an experience we won't soon forget!) Overall during our stay the food was delicious and we loved that it was a worry-free holiday for me.

The customer service here was phenomenal too. Cathy and Robin worked with my husband to have our room (The Lucky Baldwin) set up for our romantic getaway. There were candles and a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we arrived. Not to mentioned they had helped my husband get special flowers delivered to our room and had them waiting next to the most adorable decorated Christmas tree. Scott (Robin's husband) helped make sure our chains were on correctly and they even drove us to the Peppercorn Grill for our anniversary dinner. Talk about going above and beyond!

We really loved the look and feeling of this beautiful mountain lodge. The decor for Christmas was perfect and we loved being able to connect with the other guests over breakfast. After a day of snow play, it was a joy to come back to place that feels like home, play a round of pool, then curl up snug in our bed next to our roaring in-room fireplace.

We'll definitely be back for another idyllic and GF experience! Thanks Robin, Cathy, and Scott!

This is our 4th trip for Christmas. We have already booked for next year. Cathy is great and goes out of her way to make you happy. This B&B is a great place to sit back and enjoy the comforts of home. I love getting up early (5:00 AM - 6:00AM) making coffee and building a fire in the family room. Then I read. Normally you have the place to yourself until 7:00 AM. It is peaceful and great. We have stayed in all Three suites and this time stayed in the Bessie Room. We loved it and book it for next year

Room Tip: You will need to review the rooms to make your own private selection based on how you set up. As I...

We have been spending Christmas at Gold Mountain Manor for the past five years, and there's no better place to spend the holidays. We visit the Manor at least twice a year and love every minute of it. We've been visiting from the Phoenix area for six years, and every time is better than the last. We won't spend anywhere else for Christmas. Cathy and the staff at Gold Mountain Manor outdid themselves, as they do every year. The amazing food, atmosphere, the tree, the lights, the decorations, the breakfasts, the little details, the warmth of everyone who is there. Mere words don't give it justice. It's a place you have to experience for yourself. It's simply magical. We were there for a week as we are every Christmas. We hated to leave and already made our reservations for next Christmas. In the meantime, we'll be back to Gold Mountain Manor for a week in July. We can't wait.

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful at Gold Mountain Manor. This past trip, we stayed in Cozy Pine, which is...

Gold Mountain Manor is a charming respite of relaxation, luxurious pampering, and first class service. A guest is treated like a welcomed close friend. There are seven rooms/suites, each with their own decor, theme, and charm. At check-in the greetings are warm and sincere and there is a personalized note from the innkeeper waiting for you in your room. The decor is an inviting mountain home tastefully decorated with luxurious appointments. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and the dancing flames in the fireplace/stove just beckon you to curl up with a good book or someone you love. The staff provides concierge services to arrange whatever restaurant reservations, activities, etc. that might interest you.

As part of the bed and breakfast experience, Gold Mountain Manor includes a gourmet breakfast every morning at 9:00 a.m. Begin with their home made yogurt and granola accompanied with fruit..... DELICIOUS! And then on to the main course which consists of a gourmet offering of either eggs or a sweet breakfast treat. Their main goal is to please and tirelessly serve their guests with any diet requests they can accommodate. If you have a special breakfast food request, just let them know ahead of time and they will do their best to fulfill the request.

Look forward to Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a special treat of wine and fantastic hors d'oeuvres. Most guests attend and the combination of food, beverage, and fellowship makes for a fun-filled experience.

The best part of Gold Mountain Manor is the incredible first class service that is offered in a warm, inviting manner. Time comes to a stand still and provides a wonderful escape from the hectic lifestyle we all seem to lead. Just relax, take a walk, sit in a rocking chair on the front porch, play a game of pool, read a book in front of a roaring fire, take a bath with the Manor's luxurious milk bath powder, enjoy some fresh-baked cookies, engage in delightful conversations with newly made friends, or enjoy the person(s) you travelled with. All of it and more is waiting for you at Gold Mountain Manor. We plan to visit again very soon.

Room Tip: Let them know ahead of time of any special diet requests.

NEVER RECEIVED ANY OF THE FOLLOWING :
NO DOUBT THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE NESTLED IN THE WOODS!!
BUT VERY DISAPPOINTED....I have been to many BED N BREAKFAST....this was the first time for my friends and this place was a referral from a family member.
Upon arriving for a 3.5day quiet get away we were promised all of what you will read below but never received anything listed, maybe because the owner Kathy was not present but out of town and left her business to be run by Robyn and her husband Scott .... Robyn mentioned hors d'oeuves and items she was going to prepare for us but it NEVER happened on Thursday evening or Friday evening. Robyn and her husband asked for permission to sit down and eat with us and when we looked over at Scotts hands we could not believe our eyes..... Scotts hands were so dirty, i was so grossed out!!!! (Everything was premade from COSTCO). NO JOKE!!!
Actually it saddens me to have to write such a bad review but if you work hard for your money as we do then how will you know not to waste it here.
I copied and pasted this from their website: (See below)

Guests to the Manor are treated to a variety of gourmet delights, including the best the season has to offer. The following is a sampling of our treats, as created for the PBS Shows: Man in the Kitchen and Let's Dine Out, as well as Eye on LA. ."

And did we mention the fresh baked treats that are out in the afternoon - as I sit and write this - there's fudgy scratch brownies with pecans and blueberry gingerbread just waiting for someone to snatch them and enjoy them with a cup of tea. Got a favorite? Let us know when you are making your reservation. We are good at working with dietary restrictions as well. Just let us know. We enjoy the challenge!

Want to cook like you have your own Bed and Breakfast? Here's a fun and easy recipe from our files.

P.S. Kathy I've heard GREAT things about your Bed N Breakfast but after spending 3.5 days there I noticed that even the housekeepers were not happy and had sad faces......Maybe it's a problem with Robyn ;-(
