My family, consisting of my husband, age 60, me, age 49 and two teenage daughters, ages nearly 14 and 15 spent eight nights at the Beverly Hilton in June, 2007. The entire time of our stay we found everyone at the Hilton to be extremely helpful and friendly, going out of their way to help us find our way around the area or to make our stay comfortable and memorable.
The continental breakfast each morning was awesome with it's outstanding selection of ripe fruit, smoked salmon, lunch meats, Yogurt, cereal and bread (for those not watching their carbs! ) I've never had such great fruit in my life.
The hotel was done in great style, modern, but not stuffy. We felt right at home whether in the lobby or lounging by the pool. Each night they showed a movie against a wall poolside that mesmerized us while we sat on sofas and enjoyed the portable heaters. The nights are lovely in LA and sitting poolside was very relaxing, without the usual biting insects we have to battle on the East Coast.
Stick around long enough and you are bound to see various stars at the Beverly Hilton.
We would suggest an all-day tour of LA if you are unfamiliar with the area. We had a rental car and were easily able to navigate our way around , whether going to the beach at Santa Monica, or to do some shopping on Sunset Strip. The location was great with the shops of Rodeo drive just blocks away. A lovely neighborhood is just across Wilshire Blvd. making us feel safe and not stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Try the Tour of the Stars homes, which was fun for the whole family. The one recommended by the hotel was by El Dorado Tours and we found the guide to be fun and informative. He also drives a smaller van so you don't feel too conspicuous while gawking at the various homes along the route---Beverly HIlls, Bel Air and the Hollywood Hill area.
I highly recommend this hotel with it's lovely rooms and outstanding location. The staff will go out of there way to please you and if you stay long enough, they welcome you to breakfast and ask if you want "the regular!"
