This was the first time I have stayed here in at least 8 years and I loved it! It was always a nice hotel to stay in but now it has improved even more so. First of all, the lobby is dramatic and the flower arrangements throughout the public areas are gorgeous. Orchids galore! The staff was always exceptionally nice and helpful and that remains the same. For such a large and busy hotel, I cannot believe how nice and patient the staff is!

There is always some function or functions going on there and people watching is the best here. This time was no exception.

My room was very attractively furnished in a new decor they are using. The predominant colors are tans, browns and other earth tones. Crystal lamps on either side of the bed, a huge plasma tv, desk and ample closed space. The bed was very cosy and they use duvets, so be forewarned if you do not like them. I am sure they can make the bed with blankets if you prefer. The bathroom was large with a separate shower stall and a separate WC. Another small plasma tv in the bathroom. Great toiletries, and the shower was luxurious along with robes.

Another plus, was the complimentary newspaper. It was the Los Angeles Times, not the dreaded USA Today! We even got the Sunday Times.

There is still the Trader Vic's restaurant there which I did not go to as I am not fond of T. Vic's phony "Polynesian" style food. However, their new restaurant down by the pool area is very nice. I had breakfast there twice and dinner once. All very good. The service for the first breakfast was excellent and the second day it was lousy. I finally had to get up and go get my own coffee.(Different staff from the day before)

The people at the front desk and the concierge could not have been more helpful or pleasant.

My only con on this is the location. It is ok if you are taking cabs or if you have your own car, but for walking around, there is nothing to see within a reasonable walking distance.

Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel.

Superb hotel. Really comfortable rooms and beds. Staff really helpful. It's also a great place to people watch as the hotel hosts lots of functions. We only stayed for 3 nights, but would definitely stay again.

My husband belongs to the frequent "guest" program with Hilton/Hampton and we used his points for this hotel. He was reluctant because it "charges" very high points and we only had enough for 2 nights; we had to pay for the third night. Due to logistics, I convinced him that we needed to stay at this location. We are both SO glad we did! We stayed in a Jr. Suite and it was beautiful, spacious and worth every point/penny we spent. The plasma TV was a bonus and the bed was magnificent. The bathroom was spacious and luxurious (4 people could easily fit in the walk in shower) and the TV in the bathroom was a touch we'd never experienced. The workout facility was the best-equipped we'd ever seen with unlimited towels/water at no charge. The drinks at the bar were very good and the staff made an effort to learn our names. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a first class experience.

  • Liked — Luxurious surroundings
  • Disliked — Dinner at hotel restaurant-poor value
  • Tips/Secrets: — Opt for the complimentary breakfast in the hotel lobby; good selection and excellent service

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and were NOT disappointed!!!

We arrived late at night due to a delayed flight to find Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bentleys and Rolls Royces littering the main entrance to the hotel. We sadly got out of an old beaten up taxi!!

Once i had recovered from my awestruck daze (i'm a car fanatic) we then checked in. Fighting our way through from the taxi to the check in desk was very amusing with the constant pings of papparazi flashes (there was some charity event on with Whitney Houston and plenty other stars that night)
Check in was a breeze and very quick.

The room we received was fantastic, a 40" or thereabouts LCD HDTV in the room with a small 14" LCD in the bathroom was a nice touch. The bed was too comfortable for my wife, i think if she could she would have the bed shipped back to the UK. Minibar was well stocked but watch out for the $6 / Litre bottles of water. Air conditioning was a hit or a miss but at this time of year you don;t need it so it really did not present a problem.

The hotel bar was very nice, service was impeccable. The best of all that we found was when we asked for a taxi at the hotel door. The bell staff asked where we were going and had the house car take us there. Also the car collected us again once the restaurant contacted the driver. Now that was nice!! I've used house cars before but the driver was excellent, courteous and charming to my wife. She loved the attention!

Another thing, as we were getting into the house car one evening, Sharon Stone was getting out of another....it was my wife's turn to go rubber legged at being star struck.

In a nutshell, would i come back to this hotel? Oh yes, name the day and i'll be there!!
