I had long wanted to visit the Beverly Hilton, so I booked a 3-night stay with a buddy at the end of March. Reading through reviews later, I was convinced some were written by the hotel itself, as they were so "glowing" and mentioned no issues whatsoever. I was prepared to be disappointed. As it turns out, my fears were unfounded. From the moment we drove up to the entrance, we were treated like royalty. Everyone we encountered greeted us personally and seemed glad to see us. When we reached the check-in counter, Devin was a joy to work with as he explained how, due to my Gold Hhonors status, he was upgrading us to a 7th floor room overlooking the pool.
The room appeared to have been recently refurbished, and it had lovely views of downtown LA through the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors leading to the large patio. There was great water pressure in the shower (no tub), and the bathroom didn't steam up even after hot showers. I am very sensitive to noise, and there was an occasional loud vehicle traveling along Santa Monica Boulevard during the night; ear plugs took care of that issue.
On our first afternoon, we headed down to check out the gym, and an attendant welcomed us, providing chilled bottles of water and apples as we looked around. Upstairs, we asked the concierge about visiting Rodeo Drive; he told us a driver would be happy to provide a complimentary ride, or we could walk about 15 minutes, which we did. After returning and freshening up, we called for our car; the valet greeted me by name, and he let us know he'd given us waters for the road.
Hhonors Gold members get a free "continental" breakfast, but at the BH, this is not your typical continental breakfast. It includes 7 types of fruit/melons, the usual bagels and pastries, hot oatmeal with toppings, smoked salmon, prosciutto, and more. Our server the first morning was Rosa, and she was such a pro as she kept a close eye to make sure no juice glass or coffee cup was empty; I loved how she called everyone "honey." Daniel was our server the next day, and he was obviously on top of his game.
Every staff member we encountered seemed to be truly happy to be there, and they did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. This points to good management, and the Beverly Hilton seems to be be blessed in that area. This was my first stay, but it will not be my last. Bravo for a job well done!
