I stayed here for two nights and chose it due to its proximity to Rodeo Drive.
I had no problems. I had used reward points for one night and paid $207 for the second night. At check-in I was told I would have to check-out and then check back in to the hotel due to the way i had done the reservation, but that I would not have to move my things and it would be a simple exchange of room keys. It was exactly as described and not a problem.
My room was in the Oasis section of the hotel. It is difficult for me to think of anything four stories as a "tower" and my room was on the third floor. The rooms are numbered oddly and you must pay attention to the numbers listed on the elevator--I at first thought my room would be on the 6th floor because the first number was a six--anyway, once I found my way to the room I saw no problems with it. It looked out on a fountain surrounded by green astro-turf which does seem a bit tacky, but also somewhat fitting considering this is after all Beverly Hills where "plastic" abounds.
The room itself was clean and well-appointed. The bathroom was spacioius and I loved the tub/shower. It was actually a large square surrounded by small white tiles. the tub was an oval within t he square so when one bathed there were two large shelves to the right and left. I found this most convenient for holding my wine and candle on one side and my toiletries on the other. The tub was also very deep so I had a nice bubble bath. I reallly think the unusual tub was my favorite feature of the room. The shower pressure was just fine and the towels were plush. There was a robe with a soft microfiber exterior and terrycloth interior that I loved. L'Occotaine toiletries were provided as were swabs, cotton balls, etc. so all in all I was very pleased with the amenities.
The bed was very comfortable and I had no complaints with it. There were an assortment of pillows on the bed and more in the closet along with an additional blanket.
There was no coffeemaker in the room and I was sad abotu that, but was glad for the in-room safe and the nice CD player clock radio.
The furniture was a modern dark wood and the bedside table had a shelf that could be extended or pushed back inside the bureau and I found this feature very useful when working in bed or eating breakfast there. I had room service multiple times and it was always served at the correct temperature and at the promised time. The gratuity was included and they did not incliude the line asking for further reward which i appreciated. I did think the prices steep--$11 for a cookie plate, $38 for halibut on leeks (no other sides).
I also thought the parking fees to be steep especially since I had stayed at two other hotels within an hours drive of this place on this trip and had not been charged any parking fee at the other two places. I had also noted available free day-parking in the area so I think $30 a night is a bit much.
There were a stack of magazines in the room to read and the television offered in-room movies. All in all except for the absence of the coffeemaker I was quite happy with the room.
I did not hear any noise from the rooms next door or from the hallways.
I visited the exercise room and took advantage of the free bottled water and the free fruit there thanks to a previous reviewers hint about this.. The pool area was closed. It rained on one day of my visit so I took my morning walk inside and I enjoyed the black and white photos of stars that dot the property and the wonderful fresh flowers. They may use astro turf on the lawn but the interior arrangements are fresh and stunning. There was a large gingerbread village near the coffee bar and it was quite attractive as was a table of mennorahs of silver and glass.
It is a short walk to Rodeo Drive and the surrounding shops. I had a very good meal at a place called the panini cafe and across the street a short distance away is a good coffee and pastry shop. It is a good place to sit and watch the long lines of people waiting to get in Sprinkles, a cupcake place made famous by Oprah's mentioning it on her show. I ate my other meals in the room so I can' really offer any other hin s for the neighborhood, but there is a Rite Aid very close by if one should forget anything and need such a shop
