As a small girl growing up in Los Angeles it was always my dream to spend my wedding night at The Beverly Hills Hotel. As it turns out I spent the night before my wedding in Garden Bungalow 10-A (on the Crescent Drive side) with my Mom and we got ready there for my big day, and then on my wedding night my Mom moved out and my husband moved in :)

From check in when the General Manager came to greet me and announce that a bottle of champagne was waiting for me in my bungalow to our check out when everyone waved goodbye and yelled out congratulations we had a perfect stay at the Pink Palace.

Though each one is different I was told, our Garden Bungalow is absolutely divine, and in fact is where Howard Hughes lived for a number of years. There is a living room, kitchen, amazingly appointed bathroom and bedroom and a backyard garden that could hold at least 20 people for a cocktail party. TVs and stereos in all rooms.

Every staff member from bellman to valet to wait staff to front desk, concierge, etc. all perfection. They really loved that I was getting prepared for my wedding day at their hotel and even came to watch my photographer and videographer take pictures and film - it was like being surrounded my friends, a wonderful memory! The bellman who delivered my bridal bouquet asked if he could see it, and then commented that it was far superior to most of the bouquets he sees at the weddings held at the hotel -- that's how into my preparations everyone was!

I can't comment on spa, pool, etc., since I was too busy to use them while I was there, but in general

Loved it loved loved it, and will definitely spend an anniversary there in the future.

Family of four in patio room for two day stay. Everyone should do it at least once. Never had better service in my life. Pool, Polo Lounge, Fountain Room are all first class as advertised. Expensive but I felt got more than my money's worth. Real treat for a Texan and we shall return.

I stayed at the Beverly Hills Hotel for 2 nights recently and experienced the same cold falseness that some of the other posters here have referred to.

As an overseas traveller I hired a standard rental car for the duration of my visit to LA.

Bad Move. When I drove up to the Beverly Hills hotel to check in the valets virtually sneered at my car. Don't stay here unless you plan on hiring a Mercedes or BMW - that is the kind of hotel this is.

Also the valets who bring your car out don't even wait until you are gone before they open their hand to look at the tip you've left and [--] to the other valets if it's not high enough.

The scene by the pool is very pretentious. Many celebrities and industry players. The staff by the pool can be overheard loudly [--] about people seated at the other tables even though they must know that you can overhear them.

I also experienced rudeness from one of the hotel concierges. Maybe because I was only a PAYING GUEST and not a celebrity perhaps?

In short you are not welcome in this hotel unless you are a part of the entertainment industry.

I wouldn't stay here again despite the room itself being absolutely wonderfully appointed.

Another thing is that the location of this hotel is very out of the way. The Regent Beverly Wilshire is better located.

I had read all the wonderful reviews and could not wait to stay here.
I was taking my mum for her 70th Birthday. We booked 3 nights stay between our trips to Carmel and Las Vegas and were due to spend our last 2 nights there also. Despite knowing my mother's age and that is
was her birthday during our stay there, they put us in a room right at the end of the corridor and the walk was excessive to say the least. The room was nice but the walk was just to much for her. When
I spoke to reception and said that unless they could guarantee a room
closer to the elevator on our return trip, I would have to cancel the
reservation and book an alternative hotel. No problem said the receptionist, I will cancel your return visit. I could not believe he did not even offer to try and accommodate us. In addition when I asked to use the lobby phone to call another hotel he insisted I pay for the call. I said I was only having to make alternative arrangements because they could not be more helpful regarding the room positioning. The receptionist then told me to move out of the way whilst he dealt with guests - bearing in mind I was a guest, I felt so annoyed and upset. In any event the Assistant Manager stepped
in and sat us in the Polo Lounge whilst he found us another room. He
offered us two drinks on the house whilst we waited - these were later added to my bill and I had to bring their attention to it. However the move meant we missed our Spa treatments and the cake they had left for my mother melted. It was a real nuisance having to move rooms. I would mention that we had paid for and booked deluxe rooms with two twin beds.

Another thing is that there is no sign to tell you that you cannot take photographs by the pool. Instead you just get shouted at by one of the pool boys - even if it is first thing in the morning and no one is about.

I found that the hotel did not have a friendly feel at all and it was
more of a Club for the locals. I stay in very good hotels and we stayed in four other 5 star hotels during our stay in California and I have never been treated so badly.

They left canapes in our room as an apology - unfortuntely they were left uncovered and were rock hard when we came back to the room.

The location is not great if you want to explore on foot and even with a car there is very little around.

I would never ever stay here again and from what I have learned from people living in Los Angeles there are much better hotels in the area.

Do not expect a warm welcome - there is a cold falseness here unless you are a member of The Club of course!

We stayed at this hotel two weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised. While I did not ask...it appears to me the hotel was entirely redone somewhat recently. The decor would remind you of staying on a 1950's movie set...but it is all tastefully and beatifully executed. Our bathroom was fresh and lovely...separate tub shower double sinks etc...rose and jade colored marble. We had a large outdoor balcony which was absolutely lovely. The pool area is large...plenty of nice comfortable lounge chairs...and a row of spacious cabanas on the far side. There is a cute sort of soda fountain on the ground/promenade floor has delicious food. The workout room is small ...and sort of dark...but the machines etc were fine and it was empty when we were there. The location is a few blocks away from the main drag...which i did not realize when i booked...however there is a complimentary black stretch limo that will take you to and from rodeo drive. I was so delighted with the hotel that I would return...even though..as I said...I didnt realize we were not right on the main drag. The service was very friendly and helpful. The entire decor is in pink and green...and they put great little chocolate chip cookies by your bed at night.

  • Liked — The hotel was fun to stay in...very 1950's but with modern state of the art conveniences
  • Disliked — location was a littel out of the way
