This is a very lovely hotel, in a very lovely setting. Our room was a standard but very nicely furnished. Bathroom was very nice with seperate toilet and lots of space. The communcal areas are also very nicely decorated, and the grounds and very nice to walk around. We had one breakfast in the Fountain Room which was very good, if you want to go at the weekend get there early as we were lucky - others queued for 30 mins for seats. Dinner in the Polo Lounge was fantastic. Wonderful food and great service. My only complain if it can be called that was the size of the portions! We opted for the tasting menu, however the portions felt like generous main courses - 6 of them!! Needless to say we rolled out!!
Service was very good, however it didn't feel terribly genuine to me. I felt that we only really had good service when we were tipping generously which gets a bit tiresome after a few days.
The location has its pluses and minuses. Positively the hotel is easy to drive to, and is quite the oasis in such a manic city, also there are many nice shops and restaurants a short drive away in the Beverly Hills 'town' centre. Note the hotel has a limo driver who will take you there for free. Also you are easy drives from several top LA attractions such as Santa Monica and Hollywood. I think the only negative is that you cannot walk out the hotel door and go anywhere for a bite to eat or a drink - you really have to rely on cars.
All in all a lovely place, but I felt that we weren't important enough to receive the full star treatment!

  • Liked — Stylish and well located.
  • Disliked — Felt like we had to tip constantly to receive good service

I haven't even stayed here but I wrote to the Hotel Manager to ask for a favour and I got a reply with in moments telling me they had more than happily forfilled my request.

I won't say what as I am sure they don't want loads of people asking the same as me. Suffice to say I was totally impressed that in this day and age I was made to feel so serviced.

I now can't wait to go an visit! Having spoken to family staying there they have mentioned that the service is amazing and the setting is truely stunning.

Looking at the other comments on here they are certainly not wrong -

I stayed at The Beverly Hills Hotel for two nights in May 2007. The hotel is beautiful. As you would expect from a 5 star hotel, it is well maintained and clean. The grounds are lush and gorgeous. The service we received was, bar none, top notch. The valet knew us by name when we returned the car after a day on the town. There was nothing more we could have expected in terms of service. Our room was a standard king. The sleeping area was nothing spectacular however the bathroom was lovely (double sinks, tub with jets, shower, TV, etc.). The walk in closet came in handy as well. The pool area was posh with private cabanas. The location of the hotel is several blocks from Rodeo Drive and other streets with restaurants and shopping. It is an easy walk (although the hotel provides a complimentary van within a 3 mile radius). Otherwise you will need to drive to other attractions. Staying at this hotel is worth the price if you value being treated like royalty and appreciate the piece of history that this hotel has to offer. We also saw several celebrities which was an added extra...

I have stayed at The Beverly Hills Hotel a number of times in the past few years and I simple cannot stay anywhere else when I am in LA!

No other hotel I have been to matches up to this place. I have NEVER had bad service at this hotel. The waiters remember your name and what your favourite drinks are.
The food is excellent. The reception staff make you feel very welcome and feel at home. The concierge knows everything there is to know. Room service is quick and curteous. Housekeeping do a sensational job.

The rooms and suites are large and well furnished. My favorite has to be out in the bungalows amongst all the palm trees and away from what can be at times a very busy hotel.

The Spa is a real treat. I have had massages at other luxury hotels that have just do not compare to The Beverly Hills Hotel. At one Vegas hotel I didn't think I would walk again, but here you just feel relaxed, chilled and ready to face anything.

OK it is not cheap, but what to you expect for this quality of service. And I have been to far worse hotels that have cost more.

  • Liked — The level of service mixed with the level of privacy.

We just got back from 4 nights at the BHH. Unlike the last post, I felt that the staff was incredibly attentive and kind. The hotel was beautiful and we got upgraded to a junior suite with gorgeous views because our room was not ready at 12 noon. This is ~4 hrs before check-in time.
We stayed with 2 children (ages 3 & 6). The kids were treated well and given drink passes for all the soda that they could drink at the pool. They were provided with kid bathrobes and a bunny on the bathtub faucet. In fact when we changed hotels to the Del Coranado in San Diego my 3 yr old cried because it wasn't as pretty as the BHH.
My only disappointment came with some "nickle and diming" issues. The package we reserved included breakfast however it turned out it was only good for $80- for the four of us. The first morning our breakfast bill was $100- before tip. We met the budget only if I had 1/2 a grapefruit for breakfast and my family had meals without sides. The other issues were a $10- /day wireless internet charge, a hefty hotel tax, an unknown $5- hotel charge and a $29-/night parking charge.
All in all I loved it but my husband was less than thrilled.

  • Liked — the service and the beauty
  • Disliked — the added fees for internet, parking, breakfast expense
