We stayed at the Beverly Hill Hotel the last week of May. They had a house limo come pick us up and bring us to the hotel. They have several limos, one of which is a Rolls-Royce phantom. Walking in on the red carpet leading to the inside of the hotel treat you as if you were a movie star.
At the front desk they ask me several question, like which newspaper would I like, what would I like in my room, would I like them to unpack my bags for me, they were willing to do anything I wanted. I just asked for a few extra bottles of water. She then asked if I wanted dinner reservations, I think one of the great things about having the people who work at the hotel get you dinner reservations is that they can get you reservations that are usually impossible at times to get reservations for. I told them I would like to eat at Koi that night at 7pm, which is their most busy time. We then checked into our room, which I believe was on the second level, it was a Deluxe Guest Room. They give you two keys, each of which has special ID strips on them, so when you insert the key it unlocks the door, they were kind of cool. Also, each room has its own door bell.
Walking into the room everything looked great, they had music playing on the surround sound dvd player. The room was very large, we got two queen beds that were very comfortable. There was a nice sized tv, and to my enjoyment they had a cake with candles on it saying happy birthday, I had told them it was my mother's birthday and they rememberd, she loved the cake, it tasted amazing! They had her heart from the start! The bathroom was very large, there was a very large and fancy shower, large bath tub, and a small room with a toliet. The room was deff worth the money. We got a call from downstairs asking if everything was to our expectations and when we would like turndown service (where they get your bed ready for you to actually sleep in it).
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, they have a walkway that goes around all the outside bungalows, which looked like tiny houses. There was two weddings going on at the time and they didn't mind at all that we were walking around. The small cafe inside was a nice place to stop to get a drink and a snack. The pool was amazing, we didn't spend much time there during the day, but as you've read you can rent out cabanas, you will see all types of famous people around the pool, though we didn't at the time, we saw bruse willis in the main lobby. What's really cool about the pool is when you jump into the water they have music playing under the water that you don't hear above the water. They also have changing rooms and a cafe outside the pool, as well as a large hottub.
Inside they also have a fitness center, which had a large amount of quipment. Lots of dvd players and tvs, what amazed me is that they gave you fresh fruit and juices, avion bottled water, towels, and headphones. Walking out you see the history the Beverly Hills Hotel has had with sports, all the famous people and sports stars who've come in their history and worked out and played sports there. I thought that was very interesting.
Later in the day a limo came, just to let you know any time they give you a limo or a house care like the Rolls, it's free of charge, they give you free rides within 3 miles away till 9pm, and they will also come pick you up. We were taken to Koi, people being sent away because the place was not taking any new reservations. It was fun to be able to take my mother out to dinner in a limo, the driver was really friendly as well.
Later in the night I had a few drinks at the polo lounge, which was fun. The bartender was very friendly, though a little too chatty, but hey it's a small bar, wasn't too bad. I had a cigar and walked around the property late at night. It's weird how large it is, 12 arces or so. I did see some famous people walking around at night. I went back to my room and slept, I slept very well, the beds and sheets were very comfortable.
To end some things I really enjoyed about the hotel and some things that they could improve on.
I enjoyed:
-Our breakfest, it was part of the bed and breakfest rate they had, they basically told us go to any place to eat in the hotel and you can spend up to $80. We had room service, and spent about $80, and the breakfest was amazing!
-The service, they were always happy around you, smiled a lot, looks like they enjoy their job, and they are always asking you how you are, are things okay, is there anything I can do to help you.
-The place is just beautiful, walking around you know you are in a special place, not just because of the price, but also it's history, though when you walk around you could never tell how it really was.
Some things I didn't like:
-Having to pay for internet, they offer wireless, I just think after paying a large amount of money on the room and then paying over $20 a day for parking, just seems a little much, but they do have to computers in two small phone booth type rooms near the lobby.
-One thing that realllly annoyed me was the fact that I had a do not disturb sign on the door so we could sleep in, they kept coming by, ringing the door bell, asking if there was anything we needed or a room check.
For the price you could stay at a lot of other places. Here you are paying for a night at a hotel your whole life you will not forget, when you hear in gossip that so and so was spoted here... you will remember your trip. Its a very relaxing place, and I'm not rich, but I would come back and stay here.
