The Sirtaj offers accommodation in the heart of Beverly Hills at a very reasonable price. Location is great - near Rodeo drive. The hotel itself is new and modern - the rooms are clean and spacious (we had the only twin room in the hotel). Although, the slight transparency to the bathroom 'wall' might be off-putting to some!
The Indian food served in the evening is fairly 'different' for an American hotel. However, it just didn't quite work for us. Having eaten Indian food around the world, the menu feels a little incomplete and the finished dishes placed in front of us lacked substance - rice or some naan bread often needed but not offered by default. I suppose they are trying to offer something a little more up market but they have not yet reached that point. You are walking to the Cheesecake Factory just 5 minutes away in North Beverly Drive. That being said, the service was excellent - friendly and personable. Furthermore, breakfast was very good - huge portions of smoked salmon, delicious coffee and once again, attentive servers.
Indeed, service throughout the hotel was great - front desk was very helpful with recommendations and general assistance. Everyone was friendly. It's a boutique hotel where you do really feel like you are appreciated as a guest.
I would have rated Sirtaj 4 (Very Good) if it wasn't for a certain repeated issue we had with taxis called by the hotel. Being in LA without a car (nightmare), we generally had to use taxis to get us around. The first time we asked for a taxi we were taken on a rather long ride which ended up costing a lot more than we had estimated. Fine, we didn't know the city - put it down to experience, maybe we just underestimated. The second time we used a taxi from the hotel to get to the airport - same driver who seemed very chummy with the valet. He proceeded to start weaving his way towards the airport with the meter on. We eventually pointed out the flat price sticker on the window to which he reacted angrily, asking if the hotel valet had been the one to tell us about the fixed price and then proceeded to get us to the airport in record time! If you are going to have a regular driver doing work for the hotel, make him an honest one. And make sure your staff don't have any additional 'agreements' with them.

Thank you for staying at Sirtaj Hotel and providing this review, feedback from our guests is carefully analyzed to ensure we are doing everything right in the eyes of our guests. We appreciate the kind comments in regards to service and location. "Average food" is a first since we introduced our Indian menu, but my hope is on your next visit you will agree it is the best you can find anywhere.
We don't have exclusivity agreements with any taxi company, but the drivers do want to be recognizable by our valet staff for obvious reasons. However, when a flat price is displayed it is unacceptable that the driver left you with the impression you were on the meter. I spoke with the manager/owner of the taxi company that informed me anytime a passenger is in the car the meter is required to run. We agreed the flat rate must be verbally agreed to and the meter explained before the car is put in gear to avoid such circumstances from tarnishing the guest's opinion of the hotel. I'm sorry this was the damper this time, but please stay with us again on your return!
