“Wow! Pleasantly surprised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Would not have been my original choice but decided to go due to the reviews and what a pleasant surprise. Food was awesome the ambience was incredible for a chain store eatery. The service was spot on and the gratuity well deserved. Hope to go back there before returning to Oz!

“Huge portions, really tasty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014 via mobile

Very busy CF but good service, seated quickly and the food was delicious. For a visiting Brit the portions were huge but absolutely delicious. We got Cheesecake to go and took it back to the hotel. Good prices and genuinely good food. Would happily return.

“Why is this chain restaurant in the heart of Beverly Hills?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

This has been a place I always try to avoid going. With such great restaurants in town, why go to the Cheescake Factory? We went early to avoid a wait and still ended up waiting more than 30 minutes in a very cramped waiting area for a party of 6 including 2 very anxious children. I was correct. The food is just ok and feels like it came off an assembly line. I ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad with dressing on the side, everyone else ordered breakfast foods. The dressing came on the salad and the greens were wilted. My husband's french toast was soggy and not at all crisp. It took so long to get our food that I didn't want to send it back to get another salad. We then ordered some cheesecake for dessert and we may as well have bought the frozen one from Costco. No reason to go to this restaurant when you can support better and certainly more innovative local businesses.

Beverley Hills
California 90210

DIFFICULTY LOCATING: easy

OCCASION: A reunion of cousins

PARKING: Parking was only on the street with parking meters. We had a bit of a walk from and to where we found a parking place.

VIEW: none

ATMOSPHERE: Comfortable, spacious, but nothing special.

AIR-CONDITIONED: yes

FURNITURE: ordinary cafe

BEER: The Pirate had a 22 once, draft “Fat Tire Amber Ale” that was good.

DRINKS: Their coffee was good.

BAR: They have a full-service bar

MENU FORMAT: nicely done

MENU ITEMS: They say they have 200+ and I believe them. Many look interesting. urbanspoon.com

WAITRESS: good service, well informed, prompt

BREAD: Good and served with butter.

APPETIZERS: White Bean Humus with Pita Chips and Fried Zucchini Sticks breaded and topped with Parmesan Cheese and served with Ranch Dressing were good, but not exceptional.

ENTRÉE: Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine with Hollandaise Sauce and “American” Bacon [1] were very good. Jamaican Black Pepper Shrimp was excellent (18 medium-large shrimp with just the right amount of spiciness and heat) Leftovers fed us the next day. The shrimp were still very good cold.

SIDES: The Hash Browns with the eggs and Black Beans and Rice, [2] Mango Salsa, and Amarillos (sweet ripe plantain) with the shrimp were very good.

SILVERWARE: adequate

SERVING TIME: good

DESERT: The Praline Pecan Desert Cheesecake and the Traditional Cheesecake were excellent.

BATHROOM: very good

BILL: accurate and handled well

HISTORY: David Overton started the first restaurant here in 1978. His family had been selling cheesecakes since the 1940s. They now have 170 restaurants. http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/aboutUs/ourStory/ourStory

Footnotes
[1] They called these Eggs Benedict with Spinach and Bacon (rashers of streaky bacon), but actually this would more accurately be a variation of Eggs Florentine. This item was not in their online menu.
[2] The Pirate makes a variation of Cuban Rice and Beans that is truly marvelous. Their dish was very good.

“Fantastic”

Great service, value and quality of food. We ate there 3 times! An easy walk from the Luxe Hotel. The service staff really know how to wait on a table.
