Having lived in Portland, Oregon for thirty five years (and being in the downtown restaurant business), I was aware of the quality and reputation of McCormick and Schmick's Restaurants.
When I moved to West Los Angeles I was happy to quickly discover the one located on Rodeo Drive.
Recently on a holiday flight, I received a discount coupon for dining there (as a gift from the airlines). My partner and I were able to use our coupon the other night. Parking in a parking garage nearby gave us an opportunity to windowshop and people watch as we walked along Rodeo Drive to the famous corner at Rodeo and Wilshire where the restaurant is located. We were seated right away in a cozy booth and enjoyed a pre-dinner Tangueray and Tonic (one of the best we have had anywhere.. including London). Having been too busy to have lunch that day, we found we were quite hungry. We decided to splurge and have their delicious prime rib dinner cooked medium rare with au gratin potatoes ...all prepared deliciously. Even being a "carb watcher", I wasn't able to resist their warm bread... and we were not able to eat all of our dinner. Our waiter graciously had it packaged it up for us. We knew about the wonderful desserts they have, but had no room for anything more that night even though the apple cobbler is the best we've had.
It was a very enjoyable dining experience in every way and we are looking forward to going back soon.
