“What else do you want..beer in your wine?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

What can be said about this precious gem in the heart of Beverly Hills that has not been said before? If you ever stop here, by chance or because someone recommended it to you, you are already one of the hundred of thousand customers who are sure to come back for more. The best is the best, and il Pastaio is indeed the best meal I have ever had in Los Angeles.

“Italian Food in Beverly Hills”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

While visiting in Beverly Hills in March my husband and I dined at ll Pastaio one lovely afternoon for lunch. Initially disappointed that we were not able to be seated outside, we were later happy that we were in close proximity inside to a charming young couple from India. The service was excellent, but the food was merely adequate. Nothing was poor, nor spectacular. I might try it again, but I would not go out of my way.

“ITALY IN BEVERLY HILLS...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

This restaurant is a little bit of Italy smack in the middle of Beverly Hills. It's busy and bustling. The service is impeccable and the food is good but not memorable. It's worth a visit.

“Great Service, Average Food!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant has very high ratings on trip advisor and I'm not 100% sure why because the food is not spectacular as one may derive from the ratings

I am always fair when I review a place so this is what we concluded.

1) Service was fantastic

2) Restaurant was very tight quarters inside and out and the ability to enjoy a cocktail while you wait is there but very complicated due to lack of space

3) The fig salad (only served during fig season) was good

4) The appetizer of baked spaghetti wrapped in eggplant sounded good - IT WAS HORRIBLE - the spaghetti was so much overcooked it tasted and felt texture wise as if it was chef boy'ardee at best - now granted I am sure this was assembled in quantity that morning or days prior but of this is the case then they need to undercook the pasta to prep for this - do not try this - its simply not good

5) Entrees - i had the Pappardelle which is a green fettuccine with a venison ragout which was a hearty and really good choice of pasta - i enjoyed this dish; however, my fiancee had a dish which consisted of clams and noodles covered in the broth - after conversation with the waiter we were looking for a white clam sauce basically or something with flavor - this dish was flavorless and not worth eating

6) Dessert - Tiramisu - this was very good

In conclusion - this restaurant is an average Italian restaurant suited for people who want a meal away from home NOT for people who are wanting a gourmet experience because it is far from that.

“Simply the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. The restaurant atmosphere is excellent - it is just buzzing. The service was excellent - never overdoing it.

The meals were simple classics in most cases but the presentation and substance made them outstanding - each course tasted freshly made and was full of flavour. Would definitely go back when I am next in the area. A must for all and not that pricey either considering where you are eating.
