I am a travel agent and read the review in Travel Agent Magazine, October 30 2006. This is a "Beverly Hills Hip" hotel. "The Crescent Beverly Hills delivers cutting-edge style." I come from a Virtuoso agency and am not accustomed to booking "boutique hotels".
This is an ideally located hotel, three blocks from Rodeo Drive. Location, Location, Location. $185.00 plus tax.
We arrived Dec 9th. Bell hop is there to help with the bags. $24.00 to valet the car across the street.
Check in is fast and efficient. You are given a single key.
Then you walk down the dark gloomy hallway to your room. My roommate expressed how it reminded him of a Hostel in Europe during college days.
Then comes the surprise.
You open the door to your room and wonder where are you going to put your belongings? A small manufactured closet sits in the corner to accommodate five hangers with two drawers below. A small writing desk is home to a 12 inch flat screen TV with stewel below. Room too small for a chair.
The bathroom allows only one at a time. Anyone with wide hips might not even fit. The concrete counter is tiny along with small stylish sink. There is room for a tooth brush and a comb.
Now's the best.
The queen size bed consumes the entire room. You must take turns sitting on the bed while the other person maneuvers around the room. At 5am I could hear every foot step the person above us made. I am a sound sleeper and this could still be heard even with our TV on.
The mattress is old and tired. You find yourselves always rolling to the center of the bed. The frame and head board have seen better days. A can of WD40 might correct the noise.
All in all it was a place to stay for one night. Some good laughs.
