“one of the most beautiful places I saw so far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

This is not only one of the most beautiful places I saw so far, it has also one of the most friendly staff we met during our Australia Trip. We had a nice little cabin room with a small fire place. The room was simple but very very nice. We were offered by the hotel a gratis spotlight tour in the night time, where we learned a lot about the wildlife and the nature. The restaurant was also very nice staff and very good breakfast... We would always come back to this place...

It has been an amazing 24h at Eungella NP and Broken River Mountain Resort! Our Cabin was very comfortable and practical (with toilet, shower, sort-of-kitchenet, fridge, TV, nice views to the garden...), the staff was very nice, dinner and breakfast at the restaurant absolutely DELICIOUS!! and the surroundings are amazing!! Cloud forest, platypus, turtles, and great for bird watching! A great place for nature-lovers (either couples or families!) and a great and relaxing atmosphere! We'll definitively come back!

Room Tip: The ensuite cabins are great!

We look forward to welcoming you back. Several of the migrating birds are on there way through at the moment, as the seasons change so does the bird life.

We stayed for a few nights at this place and enjoyed the location, near the National Park, River and Platypus viewing, as well as making use of the complimentary birdwatching trip in the morning, nightspotting tour and transportation to the walking trecks, which was really nice. The nature guide Miles was very knowledgeble and friendly.
The accomodation itself, and the whole place including restaurant, seemed a bit stuck in some previous decade, I can't exactly pinpoint which one, the 50's or 60's or 70's?? Everything is a bit dated, but very clean. The kitchen in our room wasn't equipped very well and the chairs uncomfortable to sit on. But the bed was comfy! Although due to the bedroom not having walls up to the ceiling and no door, we heared the noise of the fridge all night.
We ate in the restaurant once and also had one breakfast there. The food was extremely good and staff very friendly. The chef and his wife will leave this place this summer, though, so I hope they will get a good replacement, although a match must be hard to find.
I would rate the place 'good' (which means here I have to choose 'average').

We have spent a lot of time in Eungella but never ventured into the resort until last weekend. We really loved our stay, the room was clean and cozy and the fire place was a treat. Chris & Jenny were really accommodating - they dropped us back to our car after a one way hike and the managed to squeeze us in for dinner at the restaurant which was also amazing. We loved it and will be back again!

We stayed in the Cedar Lodge which was very clean and well equipped (even had a wood fireplace fully stocked with logs and matches). The location is picturesque in the mountains of Eungella National Park and upon arrival we were given directions by the friendly staff on hiking trails and the best places to spot a Platypus. The Platypus viewing area was conveniently located 2min walk away on a quiet river. We went out at 4pm and saw a Platypus immediately which was a great experience! That night we had a nice meal at the Possum's Table Restaurant located within the resort (a bit on the pricey side but the food quality was amazing). As a bonus, Possums come to feed on a tree right outside the deck beside the dining area at around 7pm providing another unique wild life experience. I would highly recommend this place if you want to see the reclusive Platypus and enjoy a cozy mountain experience.

So glad you liked our place. When you see the platypus so easily here you can forget how special it is to see them. I would say most Australians have not seen a platypus in the wild. We are amongst the lucky ones.

There was only one negative thing (Service in the restaurant) about it and they excused for that! Food in the restaurant was good. Staff in the lodge was friendly and helpful. It was easy to get a ride to the start of our walk through the forest, which was really nice. And we saw heaps of platypus!

There have been so many platypus around this year and the walks are just lovely. The forest has recovered well after the cyclones of recent years. I am sorry you were disappointed with the service in the restaurant and from your comments it looks as if it was dealt with at the time. The food is excellent isn't it?

Nothing special in this place other than just another motel type self-contained accommodation. Could not notice any eco friendly features, though promoted as an eco lodge. Paid a premium price for a river-view cottage. But the river was about 20 meters from the cottage and 3-4 meters below the ground level so virtually there were no river-views.

Food was really good and rooms were clean. Location wise it was convenient to see platypus as the viewing platforms only meters away from this place. But the cabins are poorly located away from river. It would have been nice to sleep close to the river bank.

I have written a response to this before but it has not been published. I am sorry that we did not come up to your expectations. Our cabins are as near to the river as allowed and yes the vegetation has grown up which obscures the view but that is national park land. It is lovely and handy for platypus viewing and there are lots around. Makes my day to see one swimming in the wild. I am glad you enjoyed your restaurant experience.
