My boyfriend and I just returned from a vacation to San Fransisco yesterday (May 20, 2012) and stayed all 4 days of our trip at this Doubletree in Berkley. The we had a King room and had requested an upgrade as Hilton Honors members multiple times prior to and during our trip which they were unable to accomodate since the property was booked solid. So, we stayed in a first floor room with a sliding door to a courtyard type area in Building 3 and it was swell for our needs. The bed and TV were good as was the bathroom, my only wish was that the room had a refridgerator and small microwave in it so we could have a few drinks stored or bring back some leftovers to reheat for a snack.

We used Honors points for 2 nights of our stay and paid for 2 nights of our stay - and on the evening of the 'crossover' in their system our key cards were deactivated. It was quite a trek at 10PM to get to front desk and be 're-keyed' but we got it taken care of - the front desk person was a little 'flip' about it but not a gigantic deal.

Overall this worked out well for us and it was neat to see the sailboats docked at the marina as well as the blooming flowers on the grounds.

This is a very large property. The overall atmosphere is quite relaxing and tranquil. The staff is friendly and helpful and the views of the bay are amazing.

A good "out of the city" alternative if you don't want to pay downtown SF hotel prices.

A few things of note...
- The property is quite large, so if you don't like long walks to the restaurant, lobby etc, then request a room in that vicinity.
- It is a good quality venue however it's due for some renos and polish as some areas looked a little aged.
- The location, being at the marina, offers a few meal options you could walk to, however for a wider selection you'll need to drive to your location.
- The only real negative thing I noted occurred when I used the gym. I grabbed one of the folded complimentary towels from the clean pile and discovered it had blood stains on it. Someone had obviously cut themselves, used the towel and it made it's way back into the clean pile. A bit of a gross encounter which could be prevented by closer monitoring from cleaning staff. I simply viewed this as an oversight though and not a reflection of an otherwise nice property.

Overall, I was satisfied with my stay here and will return if business takes me to the Berkeley area again.

My husband and I stayed here in April...and it was our first visit to the San Francisco area. We have stayed at Double Trees' before and always been happy...though they have always been more in the city. This was just wonderful..and it can be difficult to pick the right spot when you are not familiar..but we could not have been happier! Our room looked out on the Marina..and though we could not see the Bridge very well...there is much more beauty in that area ..and we certainly were able to experience more than our share...just from our balcony. The staff were very friendly and quite accommodating...which made our first time all that more comfortable and experience. The fact that it was conveniently located to both San Francisco and Oakland was just an added bonus. Thanks to all who helped make our stay so pleasant..we are certainly happy to recommend you to any and all!!

We had a very good stay at this hotel. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and the location and grounds were gorgeous. Sadly, it was a bit too windy and cold for us to enjoy our terrace, but the view was stunning. Breakfast was not free and the service in the buffet left a bit to be desired (we had to chase down staff to get our bill) but the food was excellent and plentiful. There were some nice perks like good smelling toiletries and free cookies upon check in that made our stay even nicer and we were very happy with our visit.
