“Gorgeous view!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

We stopped in for drinks and sat at a bar table. The restaurant has a gorgeous view with nice open windows. Drinks were good but service was not. Our waiter took a long time in bringing everything (and I'm not exaggerating). I was going to order dessert but didn't because it took 10 minutes for him to bring a dessert menu and another 20 minutes to come back after handing me the dessert menu. I just hope his service was indicative of the restaurant as a whole.

“Unbeatable view, food less so”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I had dinner this evening, drawn by its breathtaking views if the Bay. Set on pilings that jut into the water, you are sitting on top of the water if you have a table by the window. The restaurant is high beamed, open, with large windows that take full advantage of the location.

We ordered and shared fresh oysters (delicious), a mixed green salad, the evening's special, the Grilled Copper River Salmon on roasted tomatoes and a peach cream sauce (lovely), Baked Lobster and Dungeness Crab Gnocchi (basically an over the top Mac n cheese), and creme brûlée (generous and silky) for dessert. Overall, a very nice dinner but not so spectacular that we would return except for the view. Service was friendly and professional although kitchen was a little slow - about 30 minutes between appetizers and entree. Tab came to about $70 per person without wine).

“Skates on the Bay - Always a Top 10!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

The Bay Area has so many amazing restaurants to enjoy, however this Berkeley waterfront jewel has a spectacular location, a solid seafood menu and friendly service level that will always make it a favorite! Every seat has the amazing view of the SF Bay and city skyline, the bar is spacious and lively, there are plenty of special drinks and menu items that just make this place the perfect celebration destination, key business lunch or cozy connection spot at any hour! Enjoy a long walk on the pier next door afterward and you will always end a trip to Skates with a big Wow...I love the Bay Area!

“Great view!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Meet friends for lunch o. Our way from Napa to Southern California. What a beautiful view and very friend service. They have an interesting menu, I liked my steamed clams, but had to ask for a spoon and bread, hubby wasn't thrilled with the clam chowder but gave it an ok. Would definitely go there again just for the view.

“Meet for Lunch and Walk the Pier”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

One of the places you can eat and look right out onto the Bay. Food is always good. After eating, walk out on the Berkeley Pier for a good view of the bay and San Francisco.
