“A Berkeley Favorite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Yes, the parking situation is difficult and the menu doesn't change much. The food is not the most imaginative, but this place is still one of the best places to serve up consistently high quality French Bistro food. They have a salad Nicoise that is the best I've had anywhere. The Beef Bourguignonne is dark and rich as is their French onion soup. Their olive bread, while not exactly french, is great. Also, the chocolate fondant dessert is wonderful. They are often busy, so make reservations.

“French bistro atmosphere and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

I like Bistra Liaison for the big, warm, high-ceilinged dining room, some of the traditional French dishes on the menu (Salade Nicoise, for example), the drinks, and the desserts. It can get very noisy there during busy periods, and the outside area is equally noisy, on a big street. But a late-night drink and dessert there is a perfect end to a day.

“Excellent, unpretentious neighborhood gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

This is not your typical French restaurant with small portions, i.e. Nouvell Cuisine. Chef Todd is generous and walks the floor to mingle if time allows. The food is great, the wine is carefully selected and prices are rather on the lower end for a French restaurant. I've had many dinners there and recommend this restaurant for a romantic or for a just for fun dinner. I am always happy to be there.

“Pedestrian food for high price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

This restaurant seems quite popular for reasons that I find puzzling. The food is pedestrian and overpriced for the quality. The atmosphere is more like that of a cafe, casual. The service is rushed and not particularly attentive. Dessert is definitely not worth the calories. My mother likes their onion soup.

“I love Bistro Liaison”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

One of my favorites restaurants in Berkeley, and that's saying something given the plethora of fantastic restaurants in Berkeley. I fairly often stop here for dinner when leaving the office late. The food is always delicious and served by friendly, professional wait staff. The moules are sublime and I LOVE their Steak Frits and also the Green Peppercorn Pepper Steak.
