My daughter and I stayed at the Berkely City Club while touring colleges during her spring break. We could walk to the Berkeley tour, which was great since parking in Berkeley is difficult. There were restaurants walking distance as well. The hotel is like being transported in time to the 1930's. We loved it. If you are looking for a typical hotel chain experiance this is not for you. The breakfast had fresh juices and fruit, cereal, fresh scones, muffins, hard boiled eggs, coffee, and your choice of tea. There was no TV in the room but a TV room on the first floor. I was pleasantly surprised how quite this made the hotel. The only negative was that the pipes in the bathroom shower made a high pitched noise "singing" because the hotel is old. Water pressure was fine. We will definately stay here again if my daughter decides to attend UC Berkeley.
