“Perfect holiday tradition”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

We went for the steam rains - this is east bays secret! True steam train!! It was so affordable and perfect for anyone who loves trains! Then we headed towards the carousel that was lit up and the entire area was decorated in Christmas lights and trees!! Beautiful! Go early! Parking gets tricky in the dark!

“Little Farm is always a hit with young children”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

If you bring lettuce and celery, it is possible to feed the animals (usually a cow or two, sheep, goats, a horse, and pig - sometimes with piglets, as well as chickens and ducks). Feeding the rabbits is not allowed. The visitors' center next to the Little Farm has several exhibits of wildlife found in the area. These are all free.
The little train charges for its rides, as does the merry-go-round, and it is a good idea to check for the days and hours when these are open. If you ride the little train in fall, be sure to dress warmly (some families with more experience brought blankets to use as lap-robes). Children often choose a favorite animal on the merry-go-round, and eagerly look forward to riding it again and again.

“Wedding venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

The Brazil Room was a perfect venue for a small, intimate wedding. There is an outside patio flowing from the building which makes an excellent location to set up for the ceremony. The room is large with a nice fireplace. French doors open to the patio. There is also a bride's room and a small parking lot. The view is quite nice.

“Vast & varied nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Tilden occupies the stretch of land/hills north of Berkeley. It has many trails, both easy and more challenging, as well as Lake Anza, a golf course, the Little Farm and educational building nearby, a merry-go-round, and pony rides. Inspiration Point is a pleasant walk of about 5 miles. There are also off-road biking paths, views of the Bay and, at certain points, of Layayette Reservoir to the east. There are benches for resting and a port-a-potty at the entrance to Inspiration Point.

“Tilden Pradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Tilden Park which is part of the larger East Bay Regional Park is a gem in an urban ocean. If you like walking in a rural setting or even horseback riding, this is the perfect location. This park is MUCH larger and wilder then Central Park in NYC or Golden Gate Park in SF. Also, there is alot to do for teenagers as well as kids: a lake for swimming (Anza), a fun insect museum, a hands on kids farm, pony rides, a fabulous merrygoround and steam engine railroad rides. With views of the Bay, mountains to climb, lakes to boat in and rivers to walk along, what could be better!
