Its a good place to walk, bike, make a bbq, birthday parties, play with kids, fly kites. There is a really good restaurant by the sea. There is a little pier.

“Great sailing.”

Berkeley Marina hosts OCSC...one of the finest sailing schools in the country. Perfect location on the East Bay, outstanding well maintained boats, and staff and instructors that set the standards for excellence.

“Berkeley Pier And Marina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

This area of Berkeley is one of the most fantastic areas in the Bay Area for families, romantic couples or just plain walkers looking for tremendous views and plenty of activities. I always start out (as I am a walker) at Cesar Chavez Park with a loop around the park where Kites are flying, dogs are playing, and the views are spectacular. At the end of the loop, the marina appears and the yacht harbor with their sail boats come into view. This is a lovely walk past the Hornblower Yachts and the Doubletree Hotel where one can get a meal or drink. Continuing past the marina, the walk takes us to the Berkeley yacht Club and then Skates which is not only on the water but on stilts OVER the water with windows all around. another great stop for a drink or meal. Past Skates, you come upon the Berkeley Pier where many fisherman are casting away and the walk goes straight out over the water. Returning from the Pier, and continuing along the coast line, you pass by His Lordships which is another place for a drink or meal. Continuing along the Bay Side of the walk, the wind surfers can be seen and then there are many picnic tables where one can have a lovely view of the water and relax. After the picnic area is Adventureland where the kids can enjoy making things with their hands and playing on the swings and ropes. Finally, the Cal Sailing Club comes into view and one returns to where you started. This loop is approximately 5 miles and it can be longer or shorter depending on what you want to do. On a sunny day, there is no more enjoyable and dramatic way to take an invigorating walk.

“Hidden Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We stayed on the Berkley Marina at the Double Tree. The walking paths are great and very few people were taking advantage of this area. You can see many of the San Francisco attractions from the marina edge there like the Golden Gate Bridge on a clear day.

This is a great place to walk. We enjoyed watching the pelicans diving. Level pathways along the marina make for an easy stroll for all ages.
