I booked a room at the Baywood Inn for only one night. The initial email reservation was interesting, as I reserved a room and then had to wait for a response from the management, which took several days (it would have been a disaster if the room was not available). Nevertheless, I was pleased by the hospitable email and the fact that they offered to reserve a table for dinner at Papillon, the wonderful little restaurant.
In regards to my comment about the exterior of the building, it is worth noting... if you are looking for that typical bed and breakfast you will be taken back by the office building look. The Inn sits in a great location however, with a wonderful view of the back bay.
I concur with previous posts about the attitude of on-site staff, as they were incredibly unfriendly, in fact so unfriendly that you feel as if they are almost mocking you (I know that sounds weird, but it is true). When I checked in, the desk staff never looked up from her work; she just handed me the keys and told me where to go; the housekeeping staff had just finished the work and they were not happy girls, the breakfast delivery girl was downright grumpy!
The room was very cute, in a cheesy sort of way, but it was not clean and the little kitchenette had empty packets and crumbs strewn everywhere and the microwave was filthy. The bed was very comfortable and the living area was nice as well, but the fireplace may have been usable, but it was so dirty that I didn't want to even try using it.
All in all, I wouldn't stay at the Inn again, but would prefer the little hotel across the street. I thought that the room was over priced, the breakfast with "fresh OJ" (NOT), and fresh backed goodies (cold donuts) was sub-par.
Closing note... the little restaurant Papillon was FABULOUS!!
