Stayed the night while in town for an event that was a couple miles away. Phone calls to the hotel in the days prior to heading down were great. Customer services from, and I wish I had her name but she had a spanish accent, was super helpful on the phone. I wish that customer service continued when I got there. Called the hotel when I arrived in town to see if there were any taxi recommendations - they gave me one that they said "frequented the hotel often." Long story short the Guardian Taxi they recommended - do not use.
Check in was probably the fastest check in I have ever had. Desk clerk made little to no eye contact and approached me with a "checking in" greeting. Didn't ask what brought me to town or any of the standard things that IHG properties are accustomed to. As a Priority Club Member got a granola bar and water.
Room: My biggest complaint was that on the website it does not clearly state what a King Bed Room is. On the Holiday Inn site it looked as if there was a sitting area in the room. Room 401 does not have that. Just a bed and the room could not be more any more than 450 sq. feet.
Room 401 is on the complete opposite side of the hotel. Either have to go up the main elevator and walk down a L shaped hallway or walk through the banquet/meeting room area, down the hall, around the corner, up the elevator and down the hall again once arriving on the 4th floor. The hotel seemed pretty empty so why I got put on the other side of the property is beyond me
As nice as it looks there is not enough space for all of the furniture. There is a dresser that the tv sits on as well as another long 6 drawer dresser. The pillows are shaped in squares that I had to untuck and fluffy up because they are just to hard to sleep on. Room is either too hot or too cold - thermostat one degree up is stuffy, one degree down is chilly. Bathroom is where the coffee pot is on the little counter space there is - should go on the large dresser. No towel rack to put a towel on to reach after getting out of the shower. Had to put it on the floor where the bathmat was
Chair was rock hard as well as the headboard - bed is on the firmer side. Desk is not functional at all. The chair sits to low while the desk height is too tall in comparison which meant going to the lobby to get work done
Restaurant: Ordered room service and it arrived in about 20 minutes (see pictures). Potato skins are good - recommend them. A bit on the pricey side for the size of them but they are worth it. Ordered the penne pasta as well and was disappointed that there was no chicken in it like described. By the time I noticed it was already too late and room service had closed with nobody answering the call. Breakfast in the morning is decent - nothing to write home about.
Amenities: Pool area is too warm that there is condensation on all the doors and windows. With that said the slate like tile around the pool is slippery to walk on because of all the moisture. When you open the door to get to the pool from the lobby you can step into the pool in about two to three feet. I feel bad for the cleaning lady because she escaped to sit on a treadmill with her cart sweating in the AC after cleaning the pool area. No jacuzzi as well which was a disappointment. Business center has one computer and for a hotel that has so many business guests from what I saw it seems inadequate.
Maintenance is needed! The outside of the property looks immaculate. Nice landscaping, etc that helps the eye sore of a recycling plant next door as well as what looks like a junkyard in the front of the hotel. What needs to be looked at is the room number sign that was on the floor that a few employees walked by and did nothing about as well as re-caulking the shower for the crack in the wall as well as whatever is growing in the corners.
Overall - for the price it was just average. There were about 5-6 other hotels I saw when driving up that ranked much higher on TripAdvisor that I will look into next time. Not looking for 5 star luxury but for a Holiday Inn - I've stayed in much better!
Get a room on a higher up floor but make sure it's a higher number room. Lower number rooms are...
