“Pleasant and Compfy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

This is a great hotel to stay at for business. Check-in was quick and simple. Beds were soft and comfortable. Showers could use a little more water pressure but, understand the conservation of water. Rooms were clean and very spacious. The bar downstairs was well stocked with good spirits and if your nice ask at check in for a free drink ticket. The Nines restaurant down stairs is very good and has a good dinner and good breakfast buffet. All in all its a good place to stay and located in a nice area.

Have stayed here numerous times and never really had a problem. Last stay was over a holiday weekend. We had our room upgraded, which was nice. Room was very clean, nicely appointed, and the beds are super comfortable. Housekeeping did a good job with the daily clean up. Room service was prompt and the food was very good. (The Sunday Brunch is quite good and well-priced!) The hallway to our room was rather warm but the A/C in our top floor room was lovely. The only problem we encountered with this past trip was a rather loud conversation another guest held just outside our door at around 10 PM. However, it was blessedly brief. Staff was terrific!

Room Tip: Go for the higher floors!

1. Arrival date the 8th after checking in and went into our room. The room smelled dirty and stuffy, I had to open a window to air it out.
2. The next day we were in and out of our room from ( 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM) Five hours our room remained dirty.
3. When I informed the front desk our situation about the room not being clean. They sent a housekeeper right away to clean our room. EXCEPT when she came in our room, she came in with ATTITUDE and she cleaned our room poorly, no clean towels or wash rags, no refilling the toilet paper rolls, and did not empty all the trash cans in our room.
4. Still angry and upset of what we were experiencing I was on my way to the elevator when I caught another house keeper watching television and not cleaning some one else's room. It was apparent that she got caught in the act and when she seen that I saw her doing nothing she began cleaning by trying to make the bed.
5. When I informed the front desk I let them know that I wasn't leaving a tip and second is it in your policy to allow housekeeping to watch television while working?
6. The Front Desk Manager in her exact words " whatever it takes to get the job done"
We did not get what we paid for.

This is what we paid for a semi dirty room on arrival, Catching housekeeping watching television while working, leaving our room dirty for five hours, pretending that they informed us that there was times to have our rooms cleaned, there was no pamphlet available in our room telling us about a set time for cleaning services. My bonus prize was the attitude of Front Desk Manager "WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET THE JOB DONE"

Room Tip: My tip for everyone to stay at another Marriott hotel a city before or after Bakersfield. I plan on...

I had driven by this Marriott dozens of times and didn't expect much at all because it doesn't have much curb appeal. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable accommodations. My husband chaired a convention there. Everyone was impressed by how well it went off.

I enjoyed our stay in the suite. It was nice and room and almost luxurious for downtown Bakersfield.

Located on the East end of downtown, a couple of restaurants within in walking distance include Goose Loonies and Sol y Luna. Right next door to Rabobank Arena, it would be a nice place to stay for a concert or an event.

Surprisingly Nice!

This is a great hotel to stay at when traveling through Bakersfield. Don't let the surrounding area dissuade you. The moment you walk in the hotel, it feels as though you're home. The staff was smiling and supportive, with multiple people always available to assist. The room was almost perfect, very clean and comfortable with quality bedding and furniture. We stayed on the south side, 5th floor. There were a few train whistles, but barely audible and somewhat comforting. I imagine the north/street side would have been much less enjoyable to hear. Once in the room, we asked for extra towels, and they were delivered promptly. Sarah at the front desk followed up with a phone call, which was nice.

The only reason I gave this particular hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is that there was only one coffee packet in the room, and the hotel guide book was not riveted in to the binding. Otherwise, price for value for comfort was spot on.

We stopped here for a Family reunion. Facilities were nice and clean. Had breakfast buffet downstairs that was good as well. Beds were comfortable, showers had good pressure. This would be a good choice to stay in Bakersfield.

Excellent stay! Chloe at check in was great. I had reserved on my Washington State government card and found it was not accepted in California. Chloe did a great job finding another good rate. My fault and she handled it very well. We had a 9th floor room and used the concierge lounge for snacks and breakfast. Food was excellent and baked items are outstanding. Pastry chef is super! The Decadent Chocolate Cake was to die for and the morning pastries were super!

Room was well appointed and even facing the railroad tracks we heard no noise. Excellent mattress and pillows.

I appreciate the great service! Friendly staff and super service!
