We stayed in Bakersfield overnight for a graduation ceremony at CSUB. I am a member of Marriott Rewards and redeemed points for this particular stay. The hotel is RIGHT off the freeway, in the downtown area. It is sandwiched among numerous other hotels, but easy to find and the sign can easily be seen from the freeway.
Check in took less than a minute! Our room was lovely, though it was right across from the vending room (which contained a soda machine and an ice dispenser). We heard when anyone went for ice, but after a few times, the sound blended into the background. This is a level 2 hotel on Marriott standards (for point redemption purposes), and since it is Courtyard, it is designed for business travelers. Parking was complimentary and there were plenty of spots available, right by the door. Our room was clean and exactly what we would expect from a Courtyard. It isn't a luxury hotel, but it is very, very nice, and by far the best Courtyard I've stayed at (and I've been to quite a few!)
I was pleasantly surprised by our view of the courtyard and pool area, and lovely, furnished balcony. Wired broadband Internet access was free right in the room. Wireless is available down in the lobby and conference rooms. Standard to most Courtyards, a business center is set up in the lobby
Unlike some Courtyards room service consists of delivery from local restaurants, not an in-house one. However, these restaurants are all quite close, and very familiar with the hotel. Some of them are even on the phone system's speed dial. They do serve a standard breakfast buffet in the lobby area in the mornings for $8.95.
