“Best hotel on the way to LA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2011

Bakersfield was on our way to LA during our trip in May 2009. I've decided to stay in Courtyard by Marriott Bakersfield. That was great choice.
After long day of driving this was really pleasant retreat. Hassle-free check-in, nice, comfortable, air-conditioned room was ready for us. Room was very spacious (two double beds), clean and fresh.
TV, phone, internet access, coffee/tea maker, great bed and clean bathroom - what do you need more?
If you have to go to Bakersfield for some reason - this is the place to stay. Highly recommended. Plus this was really good deal.

Bakersfield is certainly not an enviable destination. I had to go for a conference and the conference booked a block of rooms at the Courtyard for us. The value was great - I booked a gigantic, one bedroom suite for only $90/night. It was huge and fit 5 of us, with a living room and the adjoining room was also our colleagues. The regular, non suite rooms themselves are very spacious and comfortable. Our suite had a coffee maker and mini fridge.

The one negative (besides that it's in Bakersfield :)) is that the bathrooms are very small.

But the bathrooms are clean, there are plenty of towels, the service is great, large lobby with lots of seating.

The "Continental Breakfast" is pretty crappy and its $10. Not reallyw orth it unless you are in a hurry.

Parking is spacious, ample and free.

They also offered free WiFi, there's a hot tub and pool (until 11 pm) and an exercise room.

Nice hotel but dated. good service and clean rooms. There is a newer marriot chain hotel next door same price might be a better choice due to more modern facility still this was nice and good price.

Passing through Bakersfield we decided the stay here. The price was very reasonable, the room was comfortable. My husband wanted to dine in a Basque restaurant. Because of the Christmas holiday, the one he chose was not open. Liz, at the front desk, provided us with great service, calling a couple other Basque restaurants suggesting another restaurant which was open. She also gave us some travel tips. It helped us enjoy our short stay in Bakersfield.

Just an overnight stop but were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. had a ground floor room that had a patio door allowing us direct access to the pool - a bonus. Typical Courtyard layout so we got what we expected.

Typical Marriott layout of hotel and rooms. Garden was very nice and well cared for. Made for a nice view from the room. Room was clean, wireless internet worked well. Lobby was clean, staff was attentive. They do not have bellboys, but do direct you where to park to be close to your room and have luggage carts, so it really was not a problem. Only bad thing was the configuration of the TV in the room. It was next to the bed, instead of at the foot of the bed. Hotel does have breakfast buffet. A bit expensive, but decent.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2009

These folks were very committed to me as their guest. I stayed for two nights for business. I got up the first morning to iron my two shirts. When I started on the first one, I found that something had been on the iron from a previous customer. This translated into a dark spot on my shirt. I called the front desk to complain. Within two minutes, someone was at my door to pick up my shirt and replace the iron, which worked just fine. When I returned that evening, the shirt had been cleaned and pressed at their expense.

Their free full breakfast was very good and their staff was very attentive to all of our needs. This place was clean, affordable and close to multiple restaurants. When in Bakersfield, I would definitely come back.
