“This is a very Unique Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

CALM is like nothing else. They are literally a "Living Museum". They exhibit injured or unwanted animals in native habitat exhibits. At Christmas they have an incredible Christmas Lights Extravaganza, well worth the time. This is a great place in the Fall and Spring, when things are a little cooler in Bako. Very nice for strollers and wheelchairs.

“Not suitable for the summer months”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

Went there with an 8 month old and a 10 month old, we are all new to the area and never thought it was going to be so hot! There were a couple of places to sit on the shade but it was so hot that even that didn't help. It's not too big so it can be walked in an hour or two, we couldn't see some of the animals so it didn't take us long to walk the whole park. We are planning on returning on the fall or winter and enjoying a nice day out there.

“Pleasant Zoo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

On the outskirts of town lies this little gem of a facility. It is as much educational as it is fun. Great family place to visit.

“Great morning outing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

I take my son here at least 3 times a year. Go in the morning when it is cool, as this is the best time to see the animals actively moving about. If you are lucky, you can see one of the docents giving a demonstration or showing one of the animals outside of their exhibits. They are full of information and will let the kids pet and interact with the animals if it is possible. Bring a picnic lunch and finish your day eating and playing on the playground. Little ones will enjoy the quick little train ride around the museum. A great morning for kids!

“Animals just outside of Bakersfield”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

Come to CALM and bring the family and kids. See bobcats, porcupines, bears, reptiles, owls, eagles, foxes, mountain lions, shorebirds, goats, racoons up close. This is a wonderful little zoo totally committed to taking care of/rehabbing animals from this -part of California. Support this great little place! Coming soon: Longhorn sheep! Come this summer for the Twilight Tours on Saturday evenings- many animals out and about as the heat dies down.
Bring a picnic- only snacks for sale to eat. Great gift shop!
