“Incredible Hotel and Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

The Padre Hotel makes detouring, or stopping in Bakersfield worth the stop!!!! The Hotel has true European elegance, with beautifully updated facilities, but yet keeping so many of the old architectural features of the building. The staff was great, rooms, wonderful...I will take a detour to go back!!!!

That is always great to hear! We hope you can visit - or detour - again soon to enjoy everything the Padre has to offer. Brunch on the weekends, heavenly beds, great dinner service and fun local events are a great excuse for another getaway. Come back soon!

I was very impressed with this hotel. It is one the most comfortable, modern hotels I've stayed in and reminds me very much of the O'Henry Hotel in Greensboro, NC - an old hotel that has been brilliantly renovated.

Even the hotel restaurant, usually something I'll avoid, pulled it off, justifying its somewhat high price-point.

The basic room was handsome and well-appointed. The bed was a tempurpedic and extremely comfortable. The bathroom and shower was a knock-out: a glassed-in walk-in, open to the bedroom, that cried out for a partner to be staying with me. Not private, but very intimate.

Now the bad news: the hotel is extremely popular with the local 20-something's on Friday and Saturday night. The bar and thudding disco on the first floor will be crowded and loud. There's a lot of security to keep the revelers from accessing the room floors. If you are on the floor (or two) above the disco, you WILL hear it. The staff informed me on checking in (on a Saturday) to expect the noise and crowds till 2am, but they also kindly put me on the 6th floor. I could still hear people on the deck below me, but it was soft chatter and more easily ignored.

Highly recommend when you planning to stay in Bakersfield, CA. We were so impressed by the atmosphere of the hotel and by the tastefully decorated interiors. Hotel is easy accessible by car. They offer valet parking on additional cost. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room, we stayed at, was perfectly clean, they prepare tasty Icelandic water waiting for us inside. Important hint: the shower in the bathroom has glass wall open to the bedroom area, for us it was not a problem, but keep that in mind when traveling with less close-related travel partner. We ate dinner and breakfast at their restaurants downstairs - both very delicious and well served!

When traveling for business, obviously on a budget, it is nice to find a hidden gem. This hotel delivered. Comfy room, good in-room wifi, excellent in house restaurant, and a great little shop serving good quality coffee for breakfast.

My wife and I have heard such great things about the Padre, we finally got an opportunity to stay there And I can tell you everything we heard was absolutely true. We did little Internet research and found the deluxe king suite on booking.com for less than $100 on Sunday. The hotel is very modern and trendy and this is easily a $300 a night room just down the road Hollywood. The entire hotel has a hip young atmosphere, the rooms are outfitted in beautiful furniture the bed was incredibly comfortable, the view from the 7th floor overlooking downtown Bakersfield was nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is only one downside and that is parking. You pretty much have to valet because there is no affiliated parking lot and street parking has late night restrictions. STAY HERE!!!!!

The hotel has beautiful newly designed modern rooms, feather bedding, great food and friendly, courteous staff. There is a great outdoor roof top bar on second floor and coffee shop on main floor.
I would definitely stay here again!

Hello! Thanks for the 5 star review! We certainly do enjoy hearing about all of the different aspects of the Padre our guests enjoy. Prairie Fire and Farmacy are definitely some of the most popular spots in Downtown Bakersfield for both visitors and locals, so we are happy you got to experience them. Come back soon!

I stayed here in May last year but have only just registered and had to write a review about this hotel. I hadn't been to Bakersfield before and researched hotels on here first - the Padre came out tops and it is well deserved.

I am used to staying in over-priced and decidedly average hotels in the US on business but this place is a real gem. A real boutique hotel with great rooms, great food, a nice bar and great service.

Highly recommended for business or pleasure and if I find myself back in Bakersfield there is not doubt as to where I will be staying.
