“Adaquate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

Spent one night room was clean and adaquate. Good deal for the price. Shower water rose above ankle before I could finish showering & toilet loose on base from wall. For whatever reason free porn for two hours so watch out if you are traveling with small children.

We needed a motel half way between Chicago and Houston. Here was a large group of them just off the Isystem and we didn't even need to go into Memphis. But we were transporting 2 cats. No problem for the Econolodge. With a AAA discount it was the cheapest around. The gal at the night desk complimented my purse and we laughed it up even after my long day on the road. Stayed at same motel on the way home even with no cats.

Couldn't find a good pet friendly place in Memphis, and West Memphis is very convenient

Asked to see a room, she was going to give us a key to a room we could see (but not stay in) what up with that?

Finally got the room settled, we chose one on the back building, she steered us away from the backside....something about the watermelon people? (sounds like a stephen king novel)

There were a bunch of workmen/guests drinking beer and lounging right outside our room......concerns at first, but they cleaned everything up and were gone before we got back from Beale St., and we were back before 11 pm.

The room is large (king bed) and the bathroom was clean and in decent repair.
The bed is very spongy, and I woke up with a sore neck.
The a/c drowns out any highway sounds.

Not good for a business stay: no desk, no dataports, no wifi in back buildings. I had to go to the lobby to get on the computer.

Breakfast was gas station pastries, breads, coffee with powdered creamer, and OJ.

Stopped in out of the blue.
Talked to the manager--Mrs. Denmon and Jessie.
Both extremely nice, professional--yet very very friendly.
Room was quiet, clean, comfortable and at a very reasonable price.
Next morning, we were going to check out.
After having a good hot breakfast and talking with Shirley and Judy:
we decidd to stay another nite.
Our stay at EconoLodge in W Memphis was great dueto thehospitality of Judy, Jessie and Shirley.
Thanks,
Joe and Fran B

This motel is a good place for a weary traveler to stop for the night. The beds are comfortable and the rooms clean. That is very important to me. The pillows were even nice, not flat or hard. It's not fancy, but when looking for a good place to stop outside the city this is a good place to stay. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I liked the fact that Wi-Fi was free - unlike in "fancy, upscale" hotels. And, the price was right too!

I reserved this room online. Vacationing with husband and two children. We were just passing thru town and needed a place to sleep on our way to Pigeon Forge, Tenn. I had gotten a really good deal online so I wasn't expecting a whole lot of the place, but I just couldn't stay here. Pulled into parking lot and started looking around. Immediately became uncomfortable with my choice in hotels. A "working girl" was standing outside one room staring as we drove by and a trucker making a purchase in the parking lot. All of this in broad daylight, right out in the open for everyone to see. There was NO way I would stay here. My husband went inside and canceled the room while I stayed locked in the car with my children. I can't comment on the rooms because I couldn't make it past the parking lot. I DO NOT recommend!!!! Not a good neighborhood.

Let me start by saying I've stayed in very nice hotels and I've stayed in budget motels. This was quite possibly the worst budget hotel experience ever. We just needed a place to sleep after driving for 8 hours and pulled in off the highway. My husband ran inside to see if any rooms were available and as I was sitting in the car (with our 18 mo. old) I saw two ladies of the night escorting 4 men into a room. At this point I was very nervous but I was so tired I figured it was just one night and we'd probably be ok. The room smelled a little funky and the carpets left our socks black but the bed was ok. There was a huge group of people having a party a few rooms down which added to my already rattled nerves. Putting good judgment aside we went ahead and set up the playpen for our child and tried to go to sleep. Every time I would almost fall asleep someone would walk by the room yelling at the people a couple of rooms down. All in all I slept maybe 3-4 hours the whole night...after taking some Nyquil. We checked out early the next morning and went on our way. I'm normally not too picky but I must say that I did not feel safe and did not sleep very well at this motel.
