When I went in to check into my room you could tell the small, worn-out looking lobby had seen lots of miles. It was only 7 pm and they had the chairs set on top of the table. It didn't look like they had been mopping - I wondered if it was a subtle hint to not make use of their lobby.
The most alarming thing was when I used the restroom in the lobby - the sink was very dirty with a bar of sudsy, dirty soap sitting in the corner, the toilet was dirty and stained, the walls were worn and dirty, and the mirror above the sink was cracked and worn. In a word - dirty. I was very concerned about what awaited us in our rooms.
The rooms were better than the lobby bathroom, but that said, there were hairs in the sink, hairs in the bathtub - and worst of all - hairs on the sheets of the bed! We had double beds and my sheets had old stains on them, though they had been washed. My friend's bed had several cigarette burns in the blanket, along with hairs on the sheets. Neither of us took our shoes off while in the room.
Like I said, this hotel is not the worst I've stayed in, but If I need to stay near Memphis again, I'll definitely try a different hotel.
FYI - Hotel is right across the road from a huge casino and several beer joints.
