Bourbon Street Grill is that little town's best kept secret. Hands down the best filet to be had in the area...even beats the offerings in Downtown Memphis. If you can overlook walking through smoky Southland Greyhound Park's gambling area to reach the Grill...it's worth it.
It has an understated elegant Mardi Gras decor, tablecloths & candles.
Another secret is their "Early Bird Special" most nights before 7PM. $25/per person gets you 3 courses and a cocktail.
My fried green tomato with crawfish and roumalade appetizer was 5* good. The filet prepared a perfect medium was on par with Ruth Chris. Dessert offerings change but, mine was generous serving and a nice ending to an excellent meal.
The downsides: service is good and attentive...the problem is it is TOO attentive. The staff is kind and professional but, needs more training. They were a bit intrusive and disrupted dinner by asking several times "can I fill your (empty) water glass?" how did you like___?" staff training should teach them to do the job they see needs done without interrupting the guests' conversation. Also, the hostess actually SAT DOWN at our table. Friendly...yes! But, also inappropriate and disruptive. My partner and I rarely get an hour to ourselves and were in deep conversation...her interruption was
pleasant but, unwelcome.
All in all this is a place for an excellent meal (for the area) with a great value if you utilize the early bird special.
