“Awesome Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

My husband and I took a trip down to Bimini for Mothers Day weekend. We took the sea plane for the first time from Ft. Lauderdale! That was a very neat experience! We stayed at Bimini Big Game and it apparently was the hotel of choice for most travelers (even if they were staying at the higher end resort Bimini Bay...because even many of the guests that made reservations or owned homes at Bimini Bay were hanging out, dining and using the facilities at Big Game. That should be an indication right there that this is a great hotel. It is a quaint property, that reminded me of what the islands used to be like in the 70's and 80's. I personally like the change of pace of a smaller hotel vs the big box hotels and I used to work for and love Marriott!
We did two excursions. The first day we chartered the 60 ft viking with captain Chase. It is a beautiful fishing boat-extremely well maintained and actually the nicest fishing boat I've ever been on. We trolled and caught 2 barracudas and a 200lb 8 foot long blue Marlin! If you want to catch big game fish, do that method. I personally would have preferred to bottom fish to catch fish we could bring back to eat.

The 2nd day we went snorkling on the same boat as the dive boat. We went to a pretty reef out in the open ocean on the first stop then we went to "shark alley". Everyone had the option to dive or snorkle with Reef Sharks. There were quite a few sharks -big ones and even a few black tips. We also saw the largest and most diverse types and colours of fish I have ever seen , whether in st. Marten or St. Thomas or the Keys. We saw a HUGE eagle ray followed by a couple of other smaller sting rays. We saw one baby sea turtle and a very large sea turtle. The water is so clear and so blue.

The rooms at Bimini bay were very clean and the staff is friendly. The food at the restaurant was probably the best on the island. Michael the GM and his team have done an incredible job promoting the hotel, its water sports and the service.

We will Definitely be back!

It is pretty safe if you want to visit some of the local venues, bars and restaurants. It is an extremely small island and the locals are not going to do anything to ruin tourism-because that is the only industry on the island.

We were looking for a place to be able to take customers from our dive shop, and shot over to Bimini to check out the BBGC. Their resort is super clean, The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. If you are looking for a place to relax, spend some great times, getting to know the locals, and other visitors, this is the spot to be. If you are looking for diving, we did 3 amazing dives. First was on a wreck in about 80 ft, second was a shallow reef dive, and third was also a shallow reef dive, but what made this dive so great was the 8 Caribbean Reef sharks that swam with us the whole dive! Check out my video of the dives at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkKbl1aV08o&feature=youtu.be

i was named for the island, so when i found a trip on living social, i bought 2 packages and went with 7 members of my family. our rooms we comfortable although, the only window was in the bathroom. our sliding glass door opened onto the resort. we didn't have the best view, but we were on the bottom level, and it made for easy access to the pool. the receptionist at the front desk was lovely and efficient. we deposited our luggage in our room and went to the bar. the wait staff and bartenders, especially Garrett and Ashanti were great. the food was way overpriced, but everything is imported. and Bimini is not an island where you're going to find an Applebee's or Olive Garden. But the drinks were great and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We then meet the hotel "mayor" Tamekell! She was the cherry on the sundae. She was part concierge and part tour guide. She told us where to go for breakfast (taste of heaven across the street) and where to hang out (CC's Sports Bar and Big John's), which beaches were the best (right behind CC's and also down at the Bimini Bay resort). she really opened so many doors for us. The pool was small, but the right size for the resort. the ice machine worked well- this is a big deal, every stay at a hotel where it doesn't? there were ample chaise lounges and on the weekend the open the poolside bar. this was really a great hotel, centrally located. the hotel was nice, but not perfect. however, for the money and location, you will not find a better place to stay. and when you check in, find Tamekell, aka "Biggie". She'll take great care of you!!

I came to the Bimini Big Game Club with a big group of family including a baby, 2 elementary age children, a teenager and 12 adults. The pretense for the visit was to celebrate a birthday and to generally enjoy all that Bimini has to offer. Prior to our visit General Manager Michael Weber was contacted and was asked what he could do to help to arrange a birthday dinner as well as procure a birthday cake for the celebration. Mr. Weber not only setup reservations for our large party but also obtained the most amazing baked on island birthday cake we could have asked for. I am not saying that this cake is good for being on an island or any other caveat. I am saying this cake was one of the top 3 cakes I have ever had in my life! The dinner was great also. I personally had the prime rib and it was excellent. We enjoyed our dinner party on the deck over looking the marina and the beautiful water view. What a view and with kaliks in hand its a beautiful life!

The resort itself was great too. You can feel the history blended with the modern amenities and it gives you a feeling you get nowhere else. The staff was very attentive and talking to them made us feel like we were talking to old friends. We wanted to fish the docks but brought no gear. We were quickly given instructions on how to get poles and bait and once we made our catch the chef promptly cooked it up for use to eat! What a treat! The shark run was in full force and we saw many huge sharks swimming the docks! Hanging out on the docks I was also able to meet one of the charter captains who was the tournament director for the big game club. What a great guy and so forthcoming with the information on the local fishing! Everyone we met just seemed happy to be sharing the experience with us. The island style is truly something to be experienced and enjoyed. I slept like a baby in the comfortable bed and updated room. The artwork in the resort rooms was awesome also. If you are a fishing enthusiast you will absolutely love it. Anything you need can be found on site or within a very short walk. Check out their new signature ale, it is on tap upstairs and is pretty damn good, even for a beer geek like myself!. In short, our visit was not nearly long enough and we will be back to Bimini as soon as we can.

I give them 5 stars.........NOT for being a 5 star resort, because they are not. There are no mints on pillows or tuxedo clad bell men carrying your luggage.

But if you want a really great place that is a lot of fun in Bimini....this is for you

As I've said before.......2 rules when in Bimini......get a golf cart & say please or thank you to everyone.

Big Game is very cool. They have rooms & cottages....a nice size pool w/ a great little bar next to it. The bartender we dealt with was extremely charming, witty & poured a mean Bahama Mama (trust me, dont go there ordering 7 & 7 or bacardi & coke)

The front desk staff we met (Laverne & Patricia) were knowledgeable, prompt, attentive, eloquent, funny & charming. How can you beat that?

The prices are mid to high range...but completely worth it.

Food: WOW...........Spicy Shrimp. Order it....thank me later. The upstairs bar/restaurant is always breezy & cool. The staff there are wonderful with drink orders filled quickly & menu orders arriving sooner than expected.

Activities: kayaking, kite sailing, shark tank diving..........yes.......walk to the end of the pier....get in a tank and look at bull sharks. pretty cool.

Room Tip: As far as I know...they have single rooms, 2 bedroom cottages & a couple of suites. Hotel rooms...

We did the Living Social Deal that offered the Baleria shuttle leaving Miami Friday morning staying at BBC and returning Sunday evening.

The boat ride over was the "vomit comet". North winds made it so rough it was horrible! Many, many people got sick. Finally arrived and it took another 40 minutes to get our bags and get off the boat.

Arrived at the Big Game Club and was met with cool AC, friendly staff, and complementary punch. Once we got our room (101) which was clean, big, and the patio was right off the pool and tiki bar.

Be aware of the restaurant. Patience is needed (all around the island). We call it Bimini Time. The portions are HUGE. You can easily share a meal (I had the seafood sampler $19 and it was good) and there is 18% ALWAYS added on food and drinks.

A MUST:::: The Shark Tank was FANTASTIC!! Words cannot describe this. We had 6 sharks in a feeding frenzy inches from our faces. Amazing smaller fish, a barracuda, and a big stingray (briefly) were also there.

I will be back here for sure!! Staff was friendly, helpful, and honest. Rooms were big, clean, and welcoming. The pool was clean and well kept and there were a few hammocks in the shade.
