“One of the best holidays our family had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

Great fun particularly if you have young kids. The food and the service was great. Great shows at during the day and at night. It was great having the park just there and the kids interacting with the animals every day. Our family had a great holiday.

I spent a week here last summer. It was heavenly. The setting is pastoral, with lush vegetation everywhere. This all-inclusive resort in the coffee growing region of Colombia is designed like an oversized "finca", with one and two story stucco building in warm shades, accented by cobalt blue, not only from the painted beams but also the cobalt tiles that line the swimming pools, and the sky.
I appreciated the "adult only" pool, with a turkish bath and sauna nearby. We also enjoyed the spa, where you can receive services in discreet curtained cabins affording views of the hillside as you get a massage.
Live animals accent the decor, and the theme of the PANACA park next door. Any guest at the Decameron gets free access to this park, dedicated to the farm culture and economy of Colombia. It is a zoo, basically, with shows and talent demonstrations featuring the animals. Great for kids, and plenty of support for my parents, who sometimes needing transportation from station to station.
The food is amazing. Each night is dedicated to a different culture, with fresh salads, fruits, juices and soups a daily staple. There is food somewhere on the property day round, including a bar in the evening. There are shows nightly, great Colombian artists, singers, dancers, sketch comedy, great fun. You can also eat at a traditional grill restaurant, still included, but available by reservation only.
There is also a nurse on site, which was reassuring since I was traveling with my 78 and 80 year old parents. She was helpful with insect bites, and foot aches, provided therapeutic massages, salves and wraps as needed. The IT guy was also helpful, and the property has wif-fi in most areas, even outdoors areas.
This was perhaps my favorite trip in recent memory. Relaxing, delightful, fun, a real treat.

Room Tip: A room in the area nearest the Panaca park, adult only pool and spa is indicated for grownups travel...

The good: Hotel, great food, good pool, excellent people, a lot of fun. The tour of Panaca is unforgettable. The temperature is perfect.

The rooms are clean, a little far from the restaurant.
Only 2 restaurants, but good food.
All inclusive is always great.

You could try a tour around all the coffee region with beautiful landscape and views.

It´s a great experience to be in this spot because they are next door to PANACA and you can enjoy the entire park and have a nice stay in the hotel, everything was nice: meals ( all inclusive), transportation, clean rooms and very friendly staff. Recomend to arrange the Valle del Cocora route, is an additional plan but it whort it, nicest landscape of mountains and you can see the national palm tree in Colombia

Room Tip: If you go with a lot of people ask for the villas

Had a wonderful time at this hotel, the place is spectacular, surrounded by the most beautiful nature. Food abundant, plenty of options, nice people, activities all night long. Spacious rooms. Front desk a bit slow and annoying like all decamerons but once you survive the check in everything is great. Great entertainers at night - it does help to speak Spanish. Like one of the fellow travelers said, drinks are cheap but who cares they are free and on vacation I'll take anything with an umbrella. Panaca is a great place for the kids, lots of animals and a hands on experience that they will never get in the US. Excellent coffee. Horseback rides, pony rides for the little ones, they even get to milk cows early in the morning. I tried the spa, it doesn't have the luxury of NYC's spas but nothing like getting a wonderful one hour massage surrounded by nature, listening to the birds for about $35 bucks! You can't beat that. Highly recommended and if you go, do try to go to Parquet del Cafe, it's about 30 minutes away but it's absolutely worth going.

Room Tip: The rooms in the back (buildings 6,7 and 8) are a bit of a long walk but they are worth it because o...

I stayed with my wife for the long W/E in May. Location is perfect, you just have to cross a bridge to get into Panaca (and ou enter vie the "back door" so you dont find the tourist groups coming in). Food was awesome, had a seafood buffet the first night, reserved for the steakhouse and had a "Colombian" buffet for our last night all of which were awesome. Pool was nice with regular recreation activities (waterpolo, aerobics and such) although we spent most of our time at Panaca and Parque del Cafe both of which merit a trip by themselves. If possible, boo via the Decameron Office in Colombia since you will get free entry into the Praque del Cafe (a 30 dollar value per person). There are two stables in the lobby with beatiful horses and there is a milking station where you can go and milk a cow in the morning or take your kids on a pony ride. We paid roughly $450 for a 3 night stay for two and it was a real bargain!!!!

Room Tip: Choose rooms near the pool but in Block 9, its very close to the lobby/buffet area but not too close...
