“The best meal you'll ever eat on a Canadian "island".”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2011

This is worth the drive into Algonquin Park. Taking a boat over to Bartlett is part of the experience. Secluded, silent, and a hidden gem. Bartlett Lodge is THE place to eat/date/celebrate up north. I've gone 3 times this year, and I live an hour away.

“Just okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2011

Bartlett lodge is probably the best place we stayed in Canada, but the food is told to be the best, what I do not really agree. it is good, but a bit expensive.

Very good point is that you can bring your own wine and don't have to pay outrageous margins.

“Not a luxury accomodation for a high price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2008

The location is great, and when the boat takes you to the lodge, it looks quite impressive and authentic.

The cabins are a bit dissapointing - very basic, a bit outdated bathroom, and we must have been very unfortunate, because we saw a mouse in our bathroom.. It did not impress us that much. For the price that you pay one would expect a bit higher standard, even in a national park reserve.

The restaurant serves really great food on the canadian standard. Its a pleasure to see some people make an effort for the food in this country. Do not forget to bring your own wine though, you would otherwise have to take the boat back to your car, and then drive 20 minutes to the closest shop to buy your liquor..

We enjoyed our stay in general, the weather was great, we did a few trails and canoe. But it is too overpriced to want to come back..

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2008

We stayed in a cabin at Bartlett Lodge in June and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, you call from a phone at the dock and a motor launch comes from the Island and takes you and your luggage to the reception dock where you book in, we were given a cabin called Northern Lake which was alongside a dock with chairs and a table on, it was a beautiful place to sit and chill out and enjoy the view, the evening meal was perfect the steak the best any where and the staff were all great, not cheap but worth every penny.

“A Great Restuarant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2008

We stayed at Bartlett Lodge for two days in June 2008 and as part of the package received half board.
Before our stay we didn't expect a great standard from a restaurant on a lake in the middle of a wilderness region BUT we found the standard of food amazing.
The staff were really great with a perfect standard of attentiveness whilst allowing you to enjoy the food.
Breakfast gave the normal cold buffet of cereal, cheese, cold meat, yogurt or croissant/pastry with a choice of fresh cooked hot meal.
Dinner was four courses of as high a standard as I have enjoyed anywhere in the world - an example of a my meal on the first night was an appetiser of braised rabbit, parsnip chips, honey, parmesan, roasted garlic and portobello mushroom ragout with chive oil followed by Oven baked maple porl loin, fingerling potatos, green zucchini, baby turnips, golden beets with maple and grapefruit syrup then dessert of Phyllo wrapped cheesecake with Jack Daniels Caramel sauce.
A negative is that due to the bizarre licensing laws in Ontario the Lodge is not licensed for alcohol so you have to take your own wine although the lodge uncorks and provides glasses free of charge.
If you have been lucky enough to go to Algonquin Park you will know that there can be no greater praise than that the restaurant reaches as high a standard in the restaurant world as the Park reaches in the park world.
