From the lake shore you can see one of the windswept pines right out of a Group of Seven painting - this is where they came to paint the 'real' Canadian wilderness 100 years ago. While it is a significant sojourn to get there, spending time at Northern Edge Algonquin is a magical experience that you will never forget. We go there several times a year to attend retreats they hold. They have a wide variety of outdoor trips into the park as well as journeys inwards for the spirit - they have even hosted spiritual events with Tibetan monks and Peruvian shamans.
We love the energy of the area, a chance to swim and kayak Algonquin, as well as the local trails for walking. The warmth and hospitality of the hosts and the people who run NEA make them seem like family. Greg's gourmet meals are sensational, many made with local/seasonal ingredients. The cabins are warm, roomy and very clean. NEA is "off the grid," and they have their own power, but remember to bring a flashlight - except for the moon and stars, it's really dark at night! Leave your cellphone behind, as there is no cell tower nearby. Just you and nature...
