“Best ice cream ever tasted”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

We had visited this pub for a drink on 2 previous visits to Plockton as it serves good real ale. This time we decided to have lunch there too. We ate in the bar rather than the restaurant but the menu was the same. I had Moroccan lamb with couscous which was delicious and my husband had a trio of salmon which he really enjoyed. We then shared the cranachan ice cream (it was supposed to be just for him!) This was the best ice cream we have ever tasted. Fresh with raspberries but with a warm aftertaste of whiskey. A great choice.

After reading the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, we were really looking forward to our stay at The Plockton Inn. The area is beautiful, so picturesque and after a drive over to Applecross and back, we were ready to enjoy some food and a good sleep.

We arrived around 3pm and were ignored twice by passing staff who seemed too busy with the restaurant's lunch customers. We were eventually shown to our room which was in the annexe over the road from the bar/restaurant. The room was on the top floor and although it was nicely decorated and clean, it was the strangest room I've ever stayed in. At £54 per person, per night, we expected a little bit of luxury (we'd been touring around Scotland and stayed in far far nicer places for less money!) however what we got was a tiny en-suite toilet with the shower and sink situated in the bedroom! Anyone around 6ft would struggle to move around the room comfortably without banging their head!

Dinner was ok, the food was average but moderately priced and breakfast was adequate. Most of the staff were friendly enough but we saw no sign of management during our stay,

Although Plockton is worth visiting, this 'pub with rooms' needs to take a look at what's on offer in nearby areas and adjust their pricing accordingly.

We are just back from a three night stay at the Plockton Inn, and what a pleasant experience it was, I could not fault a thing about this inn. The staff were very friendly with out being to over the top, the food was excellent and great value for money but best of all was the room we stayed in, it had a great view and the bed linen was fresh and of good quality, and there was plenty of towels.
This is a hotel where you are made to feel welcome and nothing is to much bother, my thanks to all the staff for a great stay

Room Tip: I would recommend a room in the annex across the road from the hotel as its quiet and private almost...

Just returned after one night at the Plockton Inn, was very pleased with all aspects of our day away. Had only booked the Inn the day before traveling mentioned we were traveling by train and if we could drop our bags off early, this was no problem and on arrival we found a member of staff at the Station to meet us that's customer service, ( also dropped us off for our return journey). The Inn was very nice, our room was large with a good shower room, both rooms were very clean. The staff were all lovely,we had an evening meal in the Inn and it was superb the seafood was wonderful, both restaurant and lounge bar were busy with meals always a good sign.Breakfast was good. We would recommend this Inn.

The Plockton Inn is a fabulous "wee" hotel in Plockton near the Kyle of Lochalsh & Skye, run by siblings Mary & Kenny, and Kennys partner Susan.
The rooms are comfortable, whether in the main hotel or across the road in the seperate & slighlty more up to date building.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
The food is a must! You will be hard pushed to find quality seafood at the prices they charge.
On the first evening I had their famous Oyster Shooters, consisting of 6 fresh oysters, each in an individual shot glass of spicy Bloody Mary, (Yum Yum) followed by Cullen Skink then King Scallops.
Gail had homemade chicken liver pate follwed by a dozen juicy & fresh langoustines. I would suggest that main course would have cost £40.00+ in "The City"?
The bar is generally busy with a good mix of locals and guests, offering at least two real ales, the usualy suspects, and well over 50+ malts.
They also offered several wines, white & red, by the glass.
Booking for dinner, especially on Fridays & Saturdays, is a must, and if you dont book early you may end up in the dining room, lounge bar or main bar. Doesnt matter the foods the same, but the dining room and lounge bar are a bit quieter.
Breakfast is the usualy fare you would expect, and is prepared freshly for you each morning, but look out for their own "home" smoked salmon!
There may be "posher" in Plockton, but in our view certainly not better.

Room Tip: Rooms in "newer" block possibly a bit quieter? If you wish to choose which part of the h...

I stayed here for 1 night in October 2012 and was so taken by the stunning beauty of Plockton I recently returned at the end of March for a 2 night stay,

The hotel staff were very, very friendly, even meeting us off the train at Plockton train station to give me a lift to the hotel and also back to the station the following morning when we picked up a hire car from The Kyle Of Lochalsh to explore the Isle Of Skye.

The room in the annexe across the road was very good with a large shower/bathroom and stocked well with many different hot drinks. The meal in the Inn on the evening we dined there was superb and good value for money for the quality of food on offer. I recommend anyone to try the seafood platter there.

Breakfast was also excellent with several choices. As well as the usual full breakfast, there was smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, kippers etc as well as cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit.

The Plockton area also seems to have it's own micro-climate as whilst the rest of the country shivered, we had bright sunshine for our 2 day stay, I can not find any fault with The Plockton Inn and will definitely return again soon.

We would have preferred a sea view but the pub with rooms supplying that wanted an extortionate £130 per night. £50 less round the corner here which paid for dinner with change. The Plockton Inn was full of lots of friendly staff and the dinner and breakfast were first class. We stayed in the annex across the road which was warm, comfortable and quiet. We were only a minutes walk from the harbourside and parking was easy. If staying in Plockton this is the place to go.
