“Seashore cottage”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We stayed for a week in May 2013 with our grown up son. When he saw it first he thought it was perfect. It is. It's on the sea, its authentic refurbished cottage, and one ensuite and one bathroom works well. Karen has a good attention to detail so its all clean and well equipped. Unsurprisingly, the guest book is full of compliments and many people make return visits.
We extended our holiday in one of the chalets onsite, and that was also clean and comfortable, with a great sea view from the living area and from the balcony.
Sutherland is a beautiful place and this is an ideal location to base yourself.

Room Tip: Book the seashore cottage early.

We stayed at the Seaside Cottage. What a truly stunning location! We still miss waking up there ro the sound of the waves lapping on the shore. The cottage was everything we hoped it would be and had everything we needed. It was spotlessly clean and very cosy when we arrived on a chilly day. Karen the owner was there to meet us and made us very welcome, can't thank her enough for a wonderful break.

Imagine just opening your front door, and you are standing right in front of a lovely islet where few otters live, and the Atlantic Ocean unfolds before your eyes. This was our breathtaking experience that we lived during our stay at the Seaside Cottage that has windows all facing the unobstructed view of the sea. Feeling completely isolated into pure nature, yet connected somehow. Karen & Andrew had set this cottage up in a lovely way. Everything worked perfectly, spotless, warm, everything you need. The way the cottage is arranged is perfect for 2 couples, or a couple with children.

Please note this guest actually stayed at SEASHORE Cottage not Seaside Cottage. Thank you for the lovely review.

We stayed at the house separated from the 8 houses which make up the Lochinver Holiday Lodges (nevertheless it is part of this small holiday park). The view from the house is absolutely stunning. Most rooms have sea-view.The house itself is large enough to easily house 8 people, all comfort available incl. washer and dryer but also games, music, books about the area etc. Enough to do in the area when you like the outdoor life. If ever we visit the region again w'll definately be back here and will also recommend it to all our friends. It was beyond expectations and those were already high!

We stayed in a lodge in mid September and were a bit unlucky with the weather (hail, rain, wind and a bit of sunshine) which meant we spent more time in the lodge than would be usual.

The lodge was very clean with all amenities required for a short break. The view from the living room/balcony was stunning and the location of the lodge meant that it was extremely peaceful.

One wee thing that could be fixed is better insulation around the front door as there was quite a draft coming in when it was very windy outside.

Lochinver is a pretty wee place and I can recommend both the Larder/Pie Shop & the Caberfeidh for dinner - the food is probably a bit nicer in the former but the service much better in the latter.

We always welcome feed back from our guests as it is very useful to help maintain our standards and ensure our guests comfort. We have now repalced the draft seal around the front door of the lodge.

Very curious and with great expectations from the Scottisch highlands, we arrived at the lochinver logde. At the the logde 'Merganser' we felt instantly at home. The fresh flowers, box with chocolades, tea/coffee and the nice clean made up bed felt as a warm welcom. The house lady made sure al needed was there: a large map with tips about activities and places to eat, games for children , lots off videotapes to chose out, it all showed care and hospitality. The view was beyond expectations! Every evening showed us another view at a seaside horison in a romantic comfortable livingroom. The pure silence we experianced at our wooden balcony made us come truely to rest. Lochinver at 10 minutes with the car provided us from all our needs. Among others,it contained: grocery shops, gasstation, nice place to eat (Lochinver Larder piesshop!) and very handy a information centre with all you need to know about the environment. We made several nice car trips through an amazing land- and seaview. Hills and mountains unharmed by human, free to enter where ever you want. The landscape showed all kinds of colours in green, nice purple flowers, various colours in stone and earth. In all weather (we enjoyed a marvelous week with temperatures between 15 and 17 degrees) is a visit at this holidaypark really worth while. At the end off the days, when we came back to the Merganserhouse, it soon felt like 'home'.

We holiday here for a week every Easter and always have a super time. Our boys aged 5 and 7 love playing out at the front whilst my husband and I can keep an eye on them from inside the lodge, they also have the freedom to nip round to see their Grandpa in his lodge, it really is a perfect holiday for us all and a real family tradition. The lodges are cosy and comfortable and extremely well equipped , however we do eat out most nights as there are some lovely places to eat in the area. The bathrooms are spotlessly clean. The bedding is crisp and beautifully clean and white. Thank you Karen, Andrew and Carmen. See you next Easter.
