I cannot emphasise too strongly what an absolute delight it is to stay at Creagan. We are always most warmly welcomed by the friendly, caring, professional 'front of house' Cherry Gunn. Her large wine list, which she selects most carefully and is happy to give advice upon, compliments the cuisine and is very fairly priced.
Cherry endeavours to make certain that all guests feel welcome and that their visit is very important to both her and to the chef, her husband Gordon.
Cherry's.attention to detail and to the every need of guests is very evident both in the baronial style dining hall and in the bedrooms.
Gordon is a very experienced a talented chef who takes such pride in preparing and cooking all the meals himself using ,whenever possible, locally sourced produce. To accompany the main course he always serves four different vegetables prepared in such a way that they compliment any of the four different dishes offered.
Breakfast is another delight where you can ask for a little, such as beautiful scrambled eggs or a full Scottish breakfast with a choice of smoked or unsmoked bacon!
Nothing is too much trouble either for Cherry or for Gordon. We always feel totally at one within the relaxing atmosphere of Creagan House, with the dedicated and hard-working owners and the beautiful surrounding Highland countryside.
This is why we return year after year and have every confidence in recommending Creagan.

We stayed at Creagan, for the umpteenth time, up and down on the road to the isles earlier this month. From Cherry's warm welcome to Gordon's farewell wave from the kitchen window it was as good as we have come to expect over the years, and the perfect place in which to relax to recover from work and a long drive and to prepare for the drive home at the end of a holiday. The food was excellent - imaginative and beautifully cooked, and we always enjoy sampling different wines from the well-sourced wine-list. We have stayed in a number of hotels, most of them with rosettes for the food, and good ratings, but we have just not found anywhere as consistently clean and comfortable. Moreover, we rate all breakfasts against Gordon's and none compares with the quality and taste of locally sourced food, and the cooking (even one place whose chef/owner has a Michelin star). Home produced eggs are a great addition to the breakfast menu!

We had huge expectations of this place after reading reviews on Trip Advisor but we came away somewhat disappointed. Warmly welcomed by Cherry and shown to our room which was described to us as being very sumptuous. All I can say is their idea of sumptuous is rather different from mine. Yes, the room was spotlessly clean, towels very soft, lovely feather pillows and Molton Brown toiletries but a bit old fashioned and a carpet on the bathroom floor - oh no! It was a bit like going to stay with your Granny. Dinner was a bit disappointing. I had expected the 'Baronial Dining Hall' to be old but was disappointed to find out that it is a relatively modern addition to the original house - lovely as it is. The food was good, average, similar to a good home cooked dinner party, nothing that wowed us - not even the infamous smokie-in-a-pokie! I had thought that a 'restaurant' of this standard would have 'total' dishes on the menu i.e. veg/sides designed to compliment the meat/fish. But not the case, the same veg was served with ALL mains. Service too attentive, bordering on fussy. If I had gone to the trouble of sourcing the finest Aberdeen Angus fillet steak I certainly would not have masked the taste and flavour with a whisky/gaelic sauce. Breakfast again OK, portions (both orange juice! and food) on the small side. To sum up, this is NOT a restaurant with rooms but a good B&B which serves evening meals.

Stayed here recently with our son, and had the most marvelous weekend. Right from arrival Cherry was charm herself, despite being busy with dinner service, as we were rather late. The rooms were homely and comfortable, with the added bonus of a view of the red squirrels from my son's. The first night we ate in the village, but the second night we had dinner at Creaggans. The food was superb and we were spoilt for choice. My son had the famous 'smokey in a pokey' and it was delicious. Our choices of duck and wild sea bass were equally tasty. For mains we had halibut, venison and steak - cooked to perfection. Delicious cheeses and homemade desserts followed. The impressive cooking is complemented by the effortless service and genuine friendliness shown by Cherry, who you feel you've known all your life. We can't wait to return.

Everything about Creagan House is quality, from the beautiful cutlery and specially-made crockery to the crystal water tumblers in the rooms, to the luxurious Molton Brown toiletries and the sumptuous bath towels. Not to mention the exquisitely presented and imaginative and beautifully cooked food by Gordon, and the warm friendly welcome and hospitality from Cherry. You are made to feel like long term friends being entertained in their own home. The surroundings are beautiful too, with bird feeders everywhere, and a regular red squirrel, or two, visiting for breakfast. Just lovely!!!

We've stayed single nights at Creagan House many times en route to and from the Highlands, but never a longer stay, until this time. It's not the place for hurrying, but for a leisurely relaxing visit it's unbeatable. And it's ideal for seeing the Trossachs and Rob Roy territory, that is if you want to venture further than the red squrrels and woodpeckers in the trees around Creagan. As well as the great comfort and superb eating that we've grown used to here, Cherry Gunn plied us with leaflets, guide books and useful tips on making best use of our tourist time. Meanwhile Gordon Gunn has been developing his range of home grown produce for his kitchen, and will soon have happy chicken in a 5 star woodland run providing our breakfast eggs.
