“Good breakfast makes a decent stop for families only”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2005

For a family of 3 to 5 people, this motel offers decent rooms at a reasonable price with a good breakfast included. At the prices charged, a couple could do better in downtown Victoria.

Since it is located at the intersection of two very busy roads, and is not far from the highway, this is a true motel geared primarily to car convenience. It is not, as the photos might suggest, a destination even though the motel sits right on the Gorge waterway, and it has a row of delightful cabins on the shore. Those cabins are expensive, and there is a busy bridge a stone's throw away. Many of the ordinary rooms face the busy roads. The rest face the parking, as with any motel. The pool is small and poorly located.

Instead, the motel's main assets are its reasonably priced kitchenettes, and a large and sunny breakfast room that has space for several big families to hunker down for the included breakfast. The staff were very pleasant on both our visits and they kept the breakfast room well-stocked and clean. The kitchenette rooms feature a big kitchen, two double beds, a sofa bed, and the extra floor space every family needs.

If you fancy an evening stroll, across the bridge there is a pleasant park and sea wall walk on the Gorge's opposite shore. Otherwise, the area around the motel has only suburban conveniences: an overpriced Chinese buffet up the street, submarine sandwich and pizza shops, a convenience store, and a Canadian Tire superstore.

The View Royal location is close enough to Victoria might make this a budget base of operations for a family on a car trip.

This was my second time at the Comfort Inn-good value and only about 10 minutes from downtown by car. Enjoyed the outdoor pool. Decent breakfast.
Staff were friendly. Overall, very "comfortable" stay!

My wife and I stayed for three nights at this Inn which is a few miles out of Victoria and about 1 mile off Highway One. The directions they gave us over the phone were vague and it took some time to find the Inn, so I recommend you email them in advance for specific written guidance.

This Comfort Inn has comfortable clean, spacious self-contained rooms with en suite bathrooms and a kitchen area. It also has very friendly, helpful staff. Make sure you ask for one of the rooms, or chalets, overlooking the lake as the views are great! There is an outdoor swimming pool.

The breakfast provided is excellent with lots of choice. For a snack during the day, you can use the Subway at the gas station across the road. If you want a good evening meal, there is an English-style pub about a mile up the road which serves excellent food. Alternatively you are only three miles out of Victoria if you want city dining and entertainment.

Great for a night or three if you are looking for a blend of good quality accommodation on a budget.

A standard motel, located, despite all of management's description and pictures, at the corner of a busy and noisy intersection, complete with gas station/subway sandwich shop and mega tire store across the street. 85% of all rooms have no views of any sort, and 10% of these face a noisy street. We were initially assigned a room that was 20 yards from the street corner and we could hear traffic screeching and the floor rumble under our beds. A request for change got us a smaller room, with a view onto the many courtyards/carports. Otherwise not bad, but not worth the money or the drive away from downtown.
