“Not a great experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

We called in for relaxing drink and a chat. The selection of cakes was inviting, but very over-priced. Scone was dryish, not great. Coffee and tea were fine, but an unusually big bill for an indifferent experience. We sat outside because the sun was shining, and a friendly and admittedly well-behaved dog which seemed to belong to the owner was very keen to share our snack. As a dog-lover I didn't mind, but my friend is scared of dogs and it made her very anxious and she couldn't relax. The layout has changed from last year, and the cafe and stove sales area have been reversed, with far fewer gifts now on sale. The inside area is pleasant, but not swish enough to warrant the prices. It's in a lovely spot and parking is close by. There is lots of choice in Jedburgh though, and we'd probably go elsewhere.

“A Little Haven of Scottish Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

We (two older men on motorbikes or, as we prefer it, New Grandads on Tour) stopped off here for refreshments (and the loo) on our way north. Quirkily this small cafe is accessed through a shop selling wood burning stoves. Do not be put off, especially on a chilly day, as there is a working one in the cafe itself! The welcome was friendly and it is clearly being well used by visitors to Jedburgh and the locals alike. When we were there, there was a couple who had dropped in on their way north and then made a special effort to do the same on their way home. There is a good variety of cafe-style food (take your cue from the sign on the wall "Keep Calm EAT Cake") and it is reasonably priced. Another oddity is shelves of unusual 'giftware' to one side of the room, which all adds to the fun.
