Spent valentines night here. Made to feel very welcome, staff couldn't be more attentive or friendly. Even got a fee napkin folding lesson. Food, service, staff brilliant. Would recommend this to all.

Called at this establishment recently for High Tea. On entry it was not busy at all and we took a seat awaiting some service. It was at this point I found out how the Invisible Man must have felt. We waited and waited and waited for someone from the staff to even acknowledge the fact that we were there but to no avail. After 20 minutes I approached the guy behind the bar to see if someone could take our order. He stated that someone would be with us soon. At that point another couple entered for a meal and within 5 minutes their order was taken. A man who had been sitting at another table came over and told us he had been waiting for service before we even came in. By this time we had been in the premises almost 40 minutes with still no service.
At this point My wife and I decided enough was enough. I spoke to the batman and told him why we were leaving but all we got from him was a shrug of the shoulders and a grunt. We left and headed for another establishment in Portavogie where we received super service and a super meal. The moral of this story is if you decide to have a meal here perhaps a packed lunch would be handy to pass the time will you wait on your meal.

Just spent one night at the Portaferry Hotel the hotel dates back to the 1700's and is very well kept and cosy inside. The welcome that we received was very cheerful and warm we were met by Christine the General Manager and we were very lucky to be upgraded to the four-poster lough view room. The room was well decorated with lots of period furniture and personalised curtains etc....just lovely. The bar area was bright and airy with a cosy fire to warm you on a cold winter's day. The food was great and the bar menu was varied and we choose to eat from this menu instead of the a la carte menu....it was delicious although a little bit pricey...we had dessert served in the lounge in front of the fire with a glass of wine...Heaven. Will definitely come back again. Portaferry itself is very quiet but that was just what we were looking for so no complaints here.

Room Tip: Ask for a lough view if available

Had my birthday lunch here on Christmas Eve with family. Have to say could not fault the place! The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing as were the views out to Strangford Lough!! Considering it was Xmas eve we were all very impressed! Price also very reasonable. Will be back!!

A group of us stayed just before Xmas on a bed, breakfast dinner deal. Good value. Food of a high standard. We had to ask for the nice dining room to be opened for us because we did not want dinner in the annex to the bar. Since the room was set and heated didn't understand why we had to ask. That small niggle apart, have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Portaferry is a charming destination and can have spectacular sunsets over Strangford Lough. Excellent walking and very engaging National Trust Castle Ward short distance away.

I stayed here with my mum and dad.
Both our rooms were lovely, a bit cool as there was a problem with the heating, but the hotel was going to be refurbished we were told the following week.
We had a really great dinner, and the breakfast was really good, would stay here again, great views from our rooms.

My wife and I stayed at the Portaferry Hotel for the first time this week as we took advantage of their £50 B&B offer. Our room had excellent views over Strangford Lough and was spacious and well finished with a lovely bathroom. Whilst staying we also had the Afternoon Tea which was great fun and an evening meal in the restaurant which was great value. The bar is also great for a relaxing drink with a big open fire adding to the homely feel. The staff were a credit to the hotel and special praise must go to Sandra at front desk and Marco who couldn't do enough for us. Christine, the manager, was also very friendly and certainly made you feel at home. We will definitely return!
