“Family Wedding in Portaferry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

We have no hesitation in recommending Ardbrae House to fellow travellers. We were in Portaferry for a family wedding. On our arrival we were greeted warmly by Carole with a very welcome home made afternoon tea following a very long day's travel. Ardbrae House is in a beautiful setting with views of Strangford Lough, three miles from Portaferry and offers absolutely first class, five star accommodation. Our suite was sensational, the fabulous breakfast set us up for the day and Carole and George were the most considerate of hosts. It is truly the best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in - and we've done a few!

Room Tip: The suite costs a little more but is absolutely palatial and would suit a family of four with its ki...

After sitting in Belfast with only an iPad and a rough idea of where we wanted to go we stumbled across Ardbrae house. We were straight on the phone and Carole couldn't have sold it better. Upon arrival Carole was a wee drop of Irish heaven. We didn't feel like Ardbrae was a B&B at all as we were welcomed and catered for as if long lost relatives.

Accommodation and food was first class, if your around this area and in two minds dont hesitate you'll certainly not be disappointed.

Thank you Carole and George again for a lovely stay.

My partner a I have just returned from ardbrae wow what can I say!
What a stunning location.
We stayed in the larger room with our own en suite heavenly bliss is the best way to describe this little gem!
We were greeted on arrival by Carole, a lovely kind host always smiling and helpful!
For those of you who want a real hearty breakfast well ardbrae will not disappoint such a selection although I would definitely recommend the fry up.
The views from all around ardbrae are truly breath taking, as our title says a wee gem of a place that I will definitely retune to again and have not doubts in recommending to all my friends!
Lastly thank you to George and Carole for making our stay with you one that we will never forget!

We booked last minute to stay at this B&B. Never bothered to write a TripAdvisor review till now, however the quality of the B&B has forced my hand. Myself, my wife and son (4) stayed here and I do not have a single bad word to say about it. We loved the room, the service, the breakfast ... simply all was perfect. Having stayed in places such as The Raffles in Singapore I would honestly say we enjoyed our night here more!

Carole and George make you part of their home and our son is already asking when we can go back to his new home :) The cleanliness was OUTSTANDING as was the breakfast... so I think you get the picture. We were very happy and would recommend in a heartbeat to anyone.

Thank you Carole and George for a really luxurious two nights at Ardbrae Country House. This was so much more than just a bed and breakfast. We had the green room with stunning views towards the Irish Sea. Really, really comfortable, spacious and with everything any guest could need. The hospitality tray went further than the usual tea and coffee making facilities - fresh fruit, fresh milk, selection of biscuits and teas. Carole's breakfasts need to be seen to be believed. She offers every conceivable combination of continental and/or cooked breakfast and everything was absolutely delicious. Nothing is too much trouble for Carole and George. Fabulous accommodation, fabulous food, fabulous hosts!

Room Tip: I don't think it would be possible to pick a room that wasn't good. Everything about our st...

A perfect place to relax in comfortable and luxurious surroundings, Ardbrae Country House is a warm, welcoming haven. We arrived late in the evening to stunning views across the lough and north towards Belfast, and were warmly welcomed by George and Carole who made sure that we had everything we needed. Beautiful rooms, from the family suite bedroom with luxury bathroom, to areas for guests to relax in comfort and plan your next day from the wealth of information and material provided. What a fantastic sunroom! We had great breakfast the ext morning after a very comfortable night. Sure to return! S,W & P

The accomodation was excellent and the house is so tastefully decorated and furnished. The room we had was the large family suite and it was extremely comfortable with a delightful en-suite barhroom. Carole and George were first class hosts and we certainly enjoyed their "Ardbrae" hospitality. They are a very friendly couple and made us feel at home immediately. Carole's cooked breakfasts were wonderful and they set you up for the day!! A favourite of ours was the scrambled egg with the smoked salmon. We will certainly be back to Ardbrae Country House.

Room Tip: If available, choose the family room.
