“Good all rounder.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Great value stay. You get a lot for your money.
Clean comfortable room with all the usual amenities.
Hearty breakfast with a good choice of buffet and cooked.
Evening meals are pretty standard but not exceptional.
Everywhere in the hotel is smart and clean
There's a pool, with jacuzzi and sauna and there's even a games room.
The staff are helpful and friendly.
There's plenty of parking.
Overall a good allrounder for its class.
Highly recommended - would stay again

My partner and I had a wonderful stay here in the Glenridding Hotel overlooking the Ullswater Lake.
We had a two night break deal through Travel zoo, £99.00 each for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast plus a free bottle of wine!!!!!!!!!!
We booked in at Reception, they were very polite & helpful.
We booked our evening meal (as there's a choice of times to eat). The service is excellent, we had two lovely three course meals, the starter and dessert was set, and you had a choice of three on the main course, and the quality was excellent, we ordered wine and it was good to see that they provided a jug of water without having to request it, excellent service!!!!!!!!!!
The whole Hotel was very 'fresh', seemed newly refurbished, modern, clean and very comfortable too.
Barbara on reception is very helpful, nothing is too much trouble, very polite.
We had room 27 as it is a fantastic room with a view, tea & coffee facilities, T.V, ensuite etc etc.

We would deffinately reccomend this Hotel, as it is also a very short walk to the wonderful Boats (one of the oldest in the U.K) which take you on a trip around the Ullswater Lake, where you can get off along the way if you wish, and take a stroll around etc.............................

Room Tip: It's worth paying the extra for a 'Lake view'..........There is a pub next door called...

We stayed at the Glenridding for a 2 night short break on a special deal which included evening meal. The hotel was perfectly situated and the views were amazing especially at this time of year with the ever changing autumnal colours. We went on the steam boat (which is situated at the rear of the hotel) well worth a trip, again with spectacular views. Because we were on a 'special deal' the evening meal choice was limited, but the food was lovely. Breakfast was really good too! A trip to the Aira force waterfalls is also worth a visit. We would definately stay in this hotel again and the location was just perfect.

We spent three days at Glenridding and thoroughly enjoyed it. Set in a beautiful position on the banks of Ullswater. A very quiet spot. We paid extra for an upgrade to Room 11 and it was worth it. A lovely comfortable large room with beautiful views.
Staff were welcoming and friendly. No problems whatsoever. We were on a special rate deal including fixed menu for dinner. The food was very good although a very limited choice of starter and desert, but three choices of main. The A La Carte menu and quality of food is excellent and worth paying a little extra. Restaurant were staff very good.
I used the swimming pool and it's great. Perfect temperature, just a nice size.
All areas of the hotel were exceptionally clean, well decorated and warm. Very cosy with some nice lounges. We will return.

Room Tip: Room 11 is extra cost but very big, quiet and comfortable.

Myself and five friends arrived last Friday for a two night weekend in The Lakes. Great hotel, amazing location, excellent rooms and lovely food. There are two points to mention though; the first is that the public and private bars promptly close at 11.30, not what I would expect on a Friday or Saturday. I wouldn't expect serving until 3am, but it would be nice for last orders to be be midnight at least. The second point is that on both Saturday and Sunday morning breakfast, despite there being numerous empty bottles of HP sauce, and following five requests for new bottles, myself and other guest bought new bottles from the convenience store across the road and donated them to the hotel. These may seem minor points, but it is the little things that make the difference! That said, still a great hotel in a great location. Thank you.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights to go hill walking and site seeing, was a good choice! food was good, staff were friendly. wouldnt of changed nothing, enjoyed my stay. The swimming pool was great for a swim before breakfast and in the evening before dinner if you wanted too, also enjoyed the sauna, relaxing after a walk on the hills. excellent job!

The room was recently decorated and others seem to be similar, and well appointed. The restaurant was very pleasant. Food was excellent, especially at breakfast, and the wine at dinner comprehensive and affordable. I must mention the excellent service from all the staff.
