“Just what the doctor ordered ;)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

Weve Just been away to a wedding in ullswater. I booked cherry holme after seeing all the great reviews on trip advisor.
We stayed in room 4 were we had lovely views of the lake. Our room was lovely and clean with everything you would need in there. Great bathroom with a brilliant shower.
Breakfast was very nice with a good selection to suit most tastes.
What really makes this b&b are the wonderful hosts. We were made to feel very welcome and at home and I really can't wait to go back .
Thank you :)

Room Tip: Room 4 lovely views of the lake.

We have just had a wonderful 5 night break at this lovely Bed and Breakfast in Glenridding. We are seasoned travellers to the Lake District but had never stayed on Lake Ullswater before. We have been converted. The scenery is stunning and we found a gem of a place to stay. The beds and bedrooms are stylish and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits and a mini fridge with daily complementary bottled water. The breakfasts are great and our hosts were very accommodating with regards to individual choices each day. I am gluten intolerant and Mike and Kathy made sure that gluten free bread was available for me each morning. They also made sure that I had gluten free biscuits on the bedroom tea tray. The breakfast room doubles as a guest sitting room with comfy seating and a big selection of books and games should the weather be inclement. But what made our stay really special was the friendly, relaxed atmosphere generated in the house. All in all a delight.

We spent a night here with relatives and what a charming spot. It is quiet, views of the Lake and a breakfast that was more than we could eat! We appreciated Mike coming out to greet us and to help us with our bags. We also enjoyed the quiet of the village unlike many other spots in the Lake District. We had a wonderful sleep on a kingsize bed and it was very nice to be able to leave the windows open so we could hear the birds and listen to the breeze in the trees. What a spot! We would love to come back here again. Simply splendid!!!

Room Tip: The two in our booking were great.

We had a lovely welcome from the hosts whose warm, relaxed hospitality made us feel at home straight away. Our room had a beautiful view of Ullswater Lake which was delightfully varied at different parts of the day according to the changing light. Glenridding has enough going on to provide a variety of places to eat but it is also tranquil and a real community village. It is really well situated to explore the lakes and the local walks were tremendous in their scenery and variety.
The rooms are spotless and the breakfast was fantastic, setting us up perfectly for the day's walking. The drinks facilities and small details like the complimentary chilled water and toiletries made it very cosy. We chose the setting for our honeymoon and we know we will stay there again for many years. It was everything we had hoped for.

I would gladly recommend Cherry Holme to anyone visiting Ullswater/Glenridding.
The B&B is spotless, the room (No.1) was very comfortable with a lovely view of the lake, the settling is truly amazing.
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming.
Glenridding itself, is a small village on Ullswater, with just a couple fo shops restaurants. But very picturesque. Worth a visit.

If you want to stay in a nice place in the Lake District far from the madding crowd, this could be it. Glenridding is a tiny village on the western shore of Ullswater, a very pretty lake with a ferry service. Cherry Holme is not on the lake front, but the upstairs rooms (more expensive) have nice lake views. The rooms are clean and comfy. The owners Mike and Cathy are perfect hosts. Cherry Holme charges a bit more than the usual B&B but is well worth it.

Room Tip: Spend the money and get Room 3 or 4 upstairs.

I stayed at this B&B for a weekend's walking in the Lake District and what a wonderful find it turned out to be. The hosts are extremely friendly and nothing is any trouble. The rooms are well furnished (with all the little touches like excellent toiletries, coffee making, etc. laid on). The breakfast was sumptuous. Lots of games (including pool table). Great value.
