“Cantabrian flair & hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

We were impressed by the decoration of the common areas of this outstanding hotel, exquisite paintings ,clocks , books ,etc, .an open fireplace in dining area adds to the atmosphere..
Fantastic staff who go out of their way to answer any question or help with other matters like umbrellas, maps special local points of interest.
The rooms had very comfy beds, clean bathrooms and enough space for a young child to run around.
We opted for breakfast and three course dinner at the hotel and enjoyed a good variety of regional Cantabrian dishes ,(cocido montanes, sobaos pasiegos),at a very reasonable price.Breakfast was buffet style, sufficient variety .
Some parking space is available across the street (limited space) and next to the annex building (ample), which is about 150 m. before you reach the main building if you are coming from Santander direction.( C-131).WI FI is available in the lobby but coverage is weak in the rooms, but there is a computer for free use near the recetion. If you are into heraldry than this is must see town! There is a little garden in front of the hotel in case the weather is fine.
We would like to thank Fernando and his brother for the kind attention and will definatly come again to this little jewel of a town!

Character family run hotel. Room with en suite facilities on the main village road. Parking opposite, had to pay the village lady 12 euros as the hotel spaces were full.
cobblestones craft shops village around the corner. Lots of Spanish people walking around the village as it was Easter.
Breakfast and evening meal excellent service and quality- at a good price bookable on registration.
The family of brothers and sister in reception and restaurant were English speaking and very friendly and helpful.
A very good overnight stop and much better value than the Parador!
We felt well cared for and the hotel had lots of interesting artefacts .
There was wi fi connection, best in the lobby near the hotel's computer which you could also use. The younger brother on reception even gave me a few tips on how to use my mobile and facilities. The hotl is on Facebook too.
The breakfast was more basic with some electrical cut off of the lights but the sister was attentive.
We would recommend this hotel and the owners.

Great old-fashioned customer service, from experienced and very helpful staff is the norm here, and all of us loved this hotel.
Lovely individually, and tastefully, furnished rooms, lots of antique pieces all over the building.
The town is best experienced on your own, on foot (almost no traffic - hoorah) - so stay overnight and wander around when all the tour groups have gone, or in the early morning before they get there - its a wonderfull place to see in the evening, ther arew some excellent bars/restuarants.
Don't forget the marvellously gruesome Torture Museum....

Room Tip: If you have the money, try for a balcony room at the front - but don't get too hung up over it...

Stayed here in Aug and despite previous comments about noise - this wasn't a problem
the road isn't That busy!

Hotel is easy to find and if parking opposite is full and you don't want to pay the 2€ to park there is overflow at the infants annexe approx 200m away
Rooms are great & public areas excellent - breakfast is downstairs in a restaurant area & can be a bit hectic & warm - food is fine
We sat out front on the evening with a beer and watched the world go by (occasionally) as staff were busy in serving meals this sometimes meant a short wait but hey, you're on holiday - what's the rush!

thank you johnnymac1875 for your comments. Augost is the bussiest time of the year, sorry if it took us a little bit to be able to serve you, and thanks for understanding that. That is true about the traffic, even in the highest season, there is almost no traffic during the nights. Even though most of the rooms face the side of the building so the road is not close by. Only the Junior Suites are on the front but on second floor so you can berely hear any noice. We hope to see you around soon again .

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2011

We paid 55 euros for bed and breakfast in a very comfortable room, with free parking just outside the door - in Santillana del Mar, which is essentially a medieval theme-park tourist trap, this was extraordinarily good value. In particular, since parking is not permitted in the "centre of the village centre", being able to have the car two minutes away was a real advantage. The hotel is functional rather than charming, but there is a pleasant garden area to sit and have a coffee or a beer in the sunshine, and the walk into the centre of the village is less than 5 minutes. Breakfast was generous, although "industrial" products were more in evidence than local ones - but at that price, you could hardly complain!

Room Tip: A room at the back, rather than overlooking road

Dear Mr. jb5753 thank you for your comments. I'm glad to inform you that we toke good note of the industrial productos on the breakfast and comments like yours helped us a lot. Nowadays we have new cook and she makes extraordinary local and not local product for the buffet breakfast. Its really nice to see how all the customers appreciate this manner. We hope to hace you here back soon and try our Quesada, that is a local product that makes happy the best testers. We did have a tournament at the hotel to find out wich was the best recipie :-)
