“Nice and tidy place, poor breaky and one unfriendly staff member”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2010

The huts are quite basic but certainly fine. Eventhough the fan is rather noisy and doesn't seem to cool the place down at all. The hosts are German and so is 85% of the guests. The woman at reception (55+) is quite a moody fart who really makes it obvious she doesn't want to help you at all. Other staff are friendly though! The place is kept clean and nicely. Breakfast is crap though. I would still recommend this place but would advice not to go half board but eat out, which can be very cheap!

We were stranded here due to volacno ash for an extra 11 nights, partly due to Ryanair deciding not to fly when other airlines were!. Hotel is basic but clean and food fine. Staff were very helpful and friendly and even cooked our evening meal when we were very late returning from queueing at the airport to try and rearrange our flight. Hotel is in a great position for walking which is why we booked it - close to bus stop on roundabout and start of footpaths. We had a lovely time and really enjoyed ourselves despite the stress of wondering how and when we would get home - thank you very much!

I have been at Soller Garden at the end of August; I have booked it directly after I have read the review on Tripadvisor and seen the website of the hotel.
The price was really low but from the photos on the website it looked really nice and the reviews were ok but the experience has not been that good.

Port de Soller is really a wonderful town, we loved it, and also the city of Soller was very nice, with a lot of restaurants and cafés. I definitely recommend to every body to reach Port de Soller with the Train/Tram, they are a wonderful wooden old train and tramvia the pass through a very nice landscape.

We booked a bungalow in the Soller Garden hotel, when we arrived we were told that the bungalow was not available and that they assigned us a 1 bedroom flat in the side of the hotel (they own a building with many one bedroom flats), I was a bit disappointed already.
The flat was spacious but it looked clean, in particular the kitchen was very dirty we were keeping the distance from that, the fridge was disgusting with remaining from the previous occupier, I think the didn’t clean the flat at all.
The hotel itself and all the bungalows were in a really bad state of maintenance.
We had only breakfast included, and it was not too bad, also the swimming pool looked ok. The staff was nice and helpful.
The hotel was really well located with easy reach to the Port de Soller center (Well, Port de Soller is really small...)

I would definitely recommend Port de Soller for a family or couple looking for romance but I would AVOID this hotel.

This hotel is not expensive and has a lot of things going for it, a good location, clean, fairly spacious accommodation, a good swimming pool area and bar/lounge. We found the staff very friendly and the food enjoyable. There was a large salad bar as well as main course and you could help yourself to plenty of everything so even if you did not like one dish, you could fill up on something else. I do agree they really should add orange juice to the breakfast menu, but you can buy it from the bar and take it in. The dining room was bright and cheerful. The chalets are set in pleasant grounds and are spacious compared to a lot of hotel rooms. Ours was very clean and although the towels were a little worn, they were changed every other day and there was always plenty of toilet paper! Soller is a lovely resort and we had a very enjoyable holiday even if the weather let us down and we had to use the heating in the chalet one night.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and size.
  • Disliked — Poor quality bedlinen and towels.

You'll see a lot of reviews for this hotel saying how BASIC the bungalows are, how unimaginative the MEALS are and other general things along the same line!

Whilst I'm not going to say this place is 5 star luxury, I will tell you that a holiday at the Soller Gardens will be exactly what YOU make it!

The bungalows are clean and comfortable! Our bungalow was cleaned daily, fresh towels every 2-3 days and clean linen at least every week if not more often. You'll have a table and chairs out the front where you can spend your evenings enjoying the sound of nothingness maybe with a nice bottle of wine from the supermercado (tip: pop down in the afternoon and put one in the fridge, they don't mind). Personally, my stay at the Soller Gardens consisted of some of the best nights sleep I've ever had, which may give you a good indication of how I found the beds to be.

The food at breakfast is a little repetitive, but the quality is good and there is plenty of it. If it's not to your taste, fine, why not bring something into the restaurant with you, they don't mind one bit!

We also had evening meals, a bone of contention for some people who have holidayed here. In 17 nights at the Soller Gardens there was only one night where we were served a meal we had had previously. The quality was good, not excellent, but very good.

We found the staff, a family of 3 plus other helpers, to be friendly once we got to know them, please do make the effort, they can all speak English very well.

There are clear rules about behaviour around the swimming pool and they are expected to be followed, the staff will let you know if they are not happy with your behaviour but by no means excessively given that it is plainly obvious what is allowed and not allowed. After speaking to regular visitors and the staff it seems most of the rules are enforced due to health and safety restrictions and aren't there just to ruin peoples fun.

All in all, we had a brilliant holiday in a lovely place and can't wait to go back again!

We didn't get off to a good start. The welcome was quite unfriendly and that set the tone for our 3 night stay. I got the distinct impression that the owners were tired of their business. The place is rather down at heel and the bungalows need major renovation (or rebuilding) and this will require considerable investment.

The breakfast provided does not run to juice or even water and options are quite limited (but the croissants were good!). Perhaps the worst thing about breakfast was the person in charge who was quite rude with some people, especially if they showed up 5 minutes before the end of the adverised meal time.

The bungalows have very basic facilities and some of the beds were not comfortable but they responded to this by changing one of them. The room fan just about coped with the summer heat. There's no air conditioning.

At about £20 a night each you can't really complain about anything other than the disappointing staff attitude. The resort is wonderful and the location very convenient.

We stayed with our teenage children who had their own cabin. The location is quiet a good location, within walking distance of all amenties of Port de Soller. The accommodation is basic and the whole complex rather jaded. Beds were not very comfortable and air con is a fan. However some of the staff are rather curt and I know my teenagers are not perfect , but getting a real roasting for jumping into the pool (which is in a very tight space) seemed unreasonable. We asked for an orange juice at breakfast (which we had to pay for anyway) and we were told it was too late ,ten minutes before breakfast finished . I would say if you like a quiet base and you are ok with basic accommodation then go for it ,but if you have lively kids then forget it ,as this was the first time ever my teenagers have been threatened with being banned from a place.
