“Lovely hotel and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Spent 10 days on our honeymoon at this hotel in June 2013 and we were delighted with it. The hotel itself is charming and unlike any hotel we have stayed in before - beautiful well maintained gardens and so much space to enjoy. The terrace where you have breakfast and dinner is lovely and the bar area a lovely spot to enjoy a drink in the evening. We stayed in a superior double room in the newer part of the hotel and it was sufficient for our needs. Breakfast was good. The evening buffet was good, but we got a bit bored of it after 10 days. Staff in the hotel, restaurant, bar and pool bar all helpful and friendly. A special mention must go to Mica who looked after us very well at dinner. If we were to make any helpful comments it would be that sometimes staff were very busy at peak times in the bar and also the pool bar. This meant they often looked a bit stressed and the wait for a drink a bit longer than we would have liked! Puerto de Soller is a lovely small resort, with nice restaurants, shops and bars. We particularly enjoyed walking along the sea front after dinner and having a coffee and brandy at one of the bars. We will definitely return to Puerto Soller and the Es Port - already thinking about going back next year and we only got home 2 days ago!

In my previous review of this hotel, I referred to it as "One of our new favourites" and I am glad to say, after our latest visit, it is still up there.

This time we were there for nine days and it still left us begging for more.

The standard rooms are relatively basic but have everything you need and are kept spotlessly clean.

The public rooms are quaint and tasteful and there are plenty of 'nooks and crannies' to find where you can relax in peace and quiet.

The gardens and outdoor facilities are extensive and brilliantly kept, from the outdoor pool and pool bar to the three tennis courts (small extra charge).

The staff are well trained and polite, whether it is the reception staff (4 languages spoken), the servers or the cleaning staff. Our only problem was the evening bar staff. When it gets busy, there are not enough of them and the wait for drinks is quite long.

The food is served buffet style and is very varied with something to suit all tastes.

All in all this hotel and this location has everything for a first class holiday.

Maybe see you next year.

Just returned from 10 nights at the Es Port which is a really good hotel hotel that ticks a number of important boxes.

Located in Puerto de Soller the hotel is about a half hour transfer from Palma airport. It's about a 5 minute walk from the beach and promenade in Puerto de Soller and well placed for the bus stop from where you can get buses to a range of places such as Soller, Palma, Dejai, Valdemossa etc. Guests were an interesting mix of northern Europeans with probably a higher percentage of couples from Germany - at least while we were there.

Standards of accommodation, service and facilities are very good. Our room, a Superior Double, had a small balcony was fresh and was serviced on a daily basis. The hotel website will tell you all you need to know about the facilities. All the staff were fantastic.

Both breakfast and dinner were good with a wide range of choices. Those for dinner varied on a day to day basis, as to a lesser extent did breakfast. However, after a while you may well want to vary things and dine out - there is certainly plenty of choice.

Prices for drinks, snacks etc were on a par with , or even a little better than prices in the town in general.

No massive negatives, I would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room and a minimum dress code of no shorts at dinner.

The hotel management could also do something to stop people leaving towels on chairs by the pool while they wandered off for an hour or so and also creeping into the pool area before it opened to "reserve" recliners. (This was not excessive but it was enough to let the place down somewhat. Nor was it restricted to any particular nationality.)

However, overall, this hotel and Puerto de Soller could make me break my vow never to return to the same place twice.

Just got back from the Es port after staying 14 nights for second year running , Last year hotel was 3 star with 3 star service and food, This year hotel now 4 star what a let down ,No dress code for evening meal people wearing shorts this is not 4 star standard,We also found the main course evening meal on some nights very poor, Service in the restaurant very slow at times waiting 20 minutes to order any drinks at table, Room very nice with garden/seaview and clean, Hotel in prime location for sea front, Dogs are also allowed to stay at this hotel,This is the first year as 4 star so i hope they get right for 2014 if not people used to 4 star status will be disappointed with the Es port hotel.

30 mins taxi transfer from the airport, great first impression, we had asked for an upper sea view in our booking, although this was not possible for our first day we did get the room asked for the next day. The first room faced away from the harbour view and was very quite (just the sound of bleating goats and croaking frogs) but was out of the sun and was a bit cold. We did see heaters being taken to these rooms on that side of the building later in the week, this was due to the cold weather we had for our weeks stay. Having said that we did have the sunnier room but with a plus there is always a minus, the view to the harbour was spoilt by a big green public car park, although there was no noise from the car park as it was always empty it was always in your eye line and an eye sore. There was also a block of 5 terrace homes just the other side of the fence where the locals lived and the noise in the late afternoon was a bit of a pain. The skate boarders arrived at the rear of the public car park late afternoon and all you could hear from the balcony was bang and clatter from these boards and the shouts etc from the gang of kids .Some times this went on until 00.30am and you could not get to sleep! Obviously
this is beyond the hotel's control but it did spoil the tranquil experience. The other eye sores were the 3 run down tennis courts, 1 clay court unplayable due to holes in it, the middle court was also in very poor condition as the top surface that was tarmac was worn away and was loose chips therefore only one court left for tennis.
DINING EXPERIENCE. Sorry. Disappointing for us - but most people seemed to enjoy it. Breakfast was for me very boring , same thing every day ,small sausage, fatty streaky bacon , fried eggs, dried out rubber omelettes - always cold.. The usual cheeses, meats ,fruits (mainly from tins) The only change was sparkling wine at weekends. The evening buffet was also very boring for me, a choice of 2 meats, chips, a choice of 2 veg. I did notice that there was never a whole piece of meat or fish it was always bits of this or bits of that. However the salad bar was good and the desserts excellent with plenty of choice. used plates etc were never removed ,so the table felt cluterd.
The drinks in the restaurant-- my wife asked for a gin and tonic but was told that was not allowed and that the choice in the restaurant was wine, beer, water. as we were paying for it I could not see this stupid rule, so I went a purchased a gin and tonic fro the bar that was only 15 feet from the restaurant and took to the table. We did complain to the manager who did agree this was a silly and it would no longer be a problem. 2 days later we had the same problem, staff the brought the drinks when I told them to check with the manager. So insist on the drink of your choice.
The hotel building is out of this world and really rustic - it was wonderful to have found some where so different to stay in Spain. The staff at the desk were very helpful. However there was no one to assist with luggage. The outside bar/terrace was beautiful and peaceful but very chilly at night and the hotel kindly provided fleece wraps which was welcome and thoughtful. The outdoor pool was huge but the pool bar only opened twice whilst we were there due to the weather. Most guests were hikers so the hotel was quiet during the day which made it really tranquil and relaxing listening to the frogs and birds' song.
The rooms were very disappointing as we expected them to be rustic. It appears that some make-over guru had been in and taken the soul out with cheap tacky furniture. There was a lamp that looked like a hessian backed carpet. Only mirror in our room (s) were in bathroom. On the positive though they were thoroughly cleaned everyday. Thank you.
Location of the hotel is next to the port, shops, restaurants, bars and taxis. Buses are very cheap around 3 euro to Palma, and it is easy to get around the island. Puerto de Soller is a very pretty resort and we would have no hesitation in returning there as it is unspoilt Majorca. the transfer from the air port is 30 mins and cost around 65 euro. around 4 euro for a large beer, coffee around 2.5 euro .

Room Tip: non sea view quiet but cold no sun ,but could be a blessing the height of summer, sea view sunny but...

A year or so ago we stayed at Es Port one night, but found that it was somewhat neglected particularly in the grounds and outside pool area. This time, after a rather disrupted visit to various hotels on Mallorca, we found ourselves back here, and no regrets!!

Our room, called a small suite, was in a building separate to the main hotel. It was big and released us from the traumas of our previous hotel experiences that week! At night we could hear the frogs croaking quietly in a nearby pond, it was that quiet!! We booked half board and the food was most acceptable, buffet style as we prefer. Very good choice and the breakfast was addictive!!

We will certainly go back, the place has much to offer, lots of character and the history of the building is worth investigating. No sea views as such but perhaps a six minute walk will find you on the beach of Puerto Soller and there is an excellent ice cream parlour near the tram station! You must try the 'Dulce de Leche' Unbelievable!!!

We have just returned from 7 nights at Hotel Es Port, Puerto de Soller. We found this 3* hotel as described in various travel brochures. Our room was on the 1st floor in the older part of the Hotel and benefitted from full sun from around 12.15 till sunset. The room was kept spotlessly clean during our stay. There was a pretty good view from the balcony though the chairs on the balcony could have been a bit more comfortable. We were on a half board basis and all meals were of the buffet style. Breakfast was the usual choice of either a Continental one or a cooked one, the latter having a reasonable choice of dishes. Dinner was satisfactory but really did not make any great impression. I support Chris's views on this.
All the staff were most helpful and pleasant though this was not the case on our last evening n the restaurant. We had chosen a table for 2 fairly close to 2 largish groups of walkers. We sat there for over 10 minutes with no one coming to ask us for our choices The restaurant manager was dealing with the 2 groups and though he had seen us made no attempt to speak to us . In fact as he walked past us he just waved his hand in the air and continued to ignore us. All he need to have done was just say he would see us a soon as he could. As result we moved from that table to another area and we were approached practically immediately for our order to be taken.,
Sadly our stay was marred by my self getting food poison from food at a café by the harbour ( nothing to do with the hotel) and then on the day before our departure my partner developed the
dreaded "runs" which we believe was possibly due to some of the salad food that evening.
This was our 1st visit to Mallorca and found the area of Soller to be very attractive as was the trip to Palma with the return back being via the train/tram service.
