“Good, but not the best 5*”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Positives :
Well situated, good service, clean and comfortable throughout, friendly and obliging staff, very good breakfast and restaurant food, spectacular views from rooftop pool and breakfast areas.
Negatives :
Inadequate number of waiting staff or more efficient working practices required. for example - at breakfast, individually prepared cups of coffee were provided causing staff to be distracted from providing a smooth and efficient hot food delivery and table clearing service. Ditto orange juice. Suggestion - provide jugs of orange and pots of coffee. All front facing staff should be well dressed at all times. Gardens need more attention / watering / clearing of cigarette ends etc. 2 weddings placed the rooftop breakfast area our of use for 4 days. A professional 'team' should not need 24+hrs to clear up after a wedding. Hopefully the hotel have realised that they should not mix weddings and private guests.
With a bit of attention to detail, the hotel will live up to its name.
Would I recommend it to friends? Yes,

This hotel offers a really good holiday experience; we stayed for week and had a terrific time. Each morning I took a swim in the rooftop pool watching the sun rise over the Tramuntana mountains - the setting is beautiful with views across Soller and beyond. Breakfast is delicious, with excellent coffee and a wide selection of food including freshly cooked eggs whatever way you want them.
Our bedroom had a separate sitting room and a huge comfprtable bed. The bathroom had a walk in shower as well as a whirlpool bath and twin basins and was topped up regularly with good quality toiletries.
The staff are all charming, helpful and professional and really seem to like the guests. We ate every evening in the main square at Soller, which is only 2 minutes walk away, and particularly liked Sa Granja. We didn't eat at the hotel because it seemed rather quiet in the evenings and lacking in atmosphere. The square on the other hand is always bustling and offers great opportunity for people watching, especially as the tram to the port comes rattling through.

Having stayed near soller many times this time we wanted to stay in the village itself. Having looked at this hotel many times when driving/walking by on this occasion I decided to treat ourselves.
We were not disappointed at all, superb courteous and such friendly staff. Although a 5 star hotel there was none of the snobby acts which you sometimes get else where and from the moment we arrived until 7 days later when we left we were always acknowledged with a smile.
Our room was gorgeous and clean. We stayed B&B as we didn't want to be tied to meal times and Söller has many many lovely restaurants and eating at the around placa is always a lovely experience. Breakfast was lovely with a wide choice and the service was brilliant.
Never think twice if your about to book here, you seriously will have a lovely time.

Recently had a week's stay here during an extremely hot spell of weather so were more than grateful for the very efficient air-con! We had a room with a mountain view and the bonus of a balcony which we were not expecting. The sound of birdsong in the morning, the tranquility and mountain views were fabulous and even though this is a busy little working town you could practically hear a pin drop from our very comfortable room which was pristinely cleaned and was very comfortable- plenty of clothes hangers and a good sized bed. Lack of a full length mirror though.
As other reviewers have commented the breakfast on the terrace is great because of the surrounding views but we did feel that more staff were needed to cope with both waiting at tables and replenishing the food and utensils. Our tip would be to get down at close to 8am for a better experience.
Reception staff friendly and helpful, particularly with moving hire cars around as limited space in front car park. Great gin and tonics in the bar after a meal down at the port or in Soller itself.
Gym is well equipped, rooftop pool and surround on the small side but we did not experience any sunbed nonsense. It could be hard to get a parasol but then it was 40 degrees plus! Decking needed a bit of attention in places.
We loved the artwork in the public areas but felt that the ever present 70's/80's music could have been turned down or off occasionally as it became a bit intrusive especially around the pool area.
We really enjoyed our time here and the hotel is in an excellent position & quite imposing from the exterior. Not really suitable for children although young adults would enjoy I am sure. I think that we made a good choice although I would say that in my experience of travelling that this is perhaps a four rather than five star experience.
If you are able to hire a car do visit Fornalutx- gorgeous!

Room Tip: We were on 3rd floor and did not hear any noise from other guests. Some reviewers have commented on...

I so enjoyed my stay at the Gran Hotel Sòller. It's elegant but understated (the Bentley reproduction out front is a nice touch), and the service is just exceptional. I think people there actually enjoy their jobs! The size makes the difference, perhaps: only 36 rooms; they can afford to spoil their guests.

Usually five-star hotels charge for Wi-Fi; not the Gran Sòller. The parking is also free, and when the lot is full in the front, they'll move your car to the back and bring it around for you when you need it next. The pool on top is just made for dipping, or sunning, and the breakfast view of the ancient cathedral in the town center is inspiring. One evening, the maitre even conceded to prepare a lamb chop dinner with a salad with seared goat cheese even though we'd missed the dinner menu room service cut-off time.

The town square with its restaurants and activities is a two-minute walk away, as is the handy tram down to the port. Sòller is also well positioned for exploring the rest of the island.

Grazie di cuore to all of you at the Sòller; I would return in a heartbeat.

Stayed for 1 night as we toured around but not for us. Rooms are very corporate without much individuality, no view or walk-in shower & limited parking. Roof terrace was nice but hard to get a drink up there as bar was not staffed.
Dinner very slow as only 1 waiter covering both indoor & outside tables, when my chicken finally arrived it was totally raw in the middle. Waiter handled this very well but it really put me off dinner & was not a good end to the day. For us the location was the best point as the lovely town centre is just around the corner.

Just returned from 6 nights at this lovely hotel in the charming town centre of Soller. Superbly located. We were very pleasantly surprised that half board was 3 courses from the entire menu which made the stay superb value. I did mention our wedding anniversary when booking and some acknowledgement would have been nice on the day as in other hotels but I suppose I could always have made a further mention... The size of the hotel and efficiency of the staff meant that whatever you ordered to drink at dinner on night 1 was served immediately as you were seated on consecutive nights so if you would like a change you do need to get in fast! Breakfast was a fabulous and chilled out affair and you can haul yourself from the breakfast table to a sunlounger in one small step. Rooms were immaculately kept and there was a very relaxed feel to this hotel which means we looked and quite likely felt the most relaxed of the Palma flight on landing at Manchester! Out and about if you have a car, visit the 'Come Fly With Me', Sinatra show and if funds will stretch go Diamond Club for the leather sofa, champagne and personal waiter service. A private sunset sail with Mezzo Magic from the Port of Soller is just superb value. For lunch there is a tiny Malaysian restaurant a short way off the main square and the Cafe Central does excellent sandwiches. Angel cafe immediately adjacent to the hotel does LOVELY cakes as a mid afternoon treat. I would say this is more an adults hotel (and probably area) as space around the rooftop pool is limited (and a vvv hot surface!)

Room Tip: Well I did inform the hotel it was our anniversary when I booked and we seemed to be allocated the b...
