“Much better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Bearing in mind that this is a two star hotel, it is actually quite good. We had a nice room with a wonderful view, room and bathroom scrupulously clean, and several changes of towels. The staff were without exception friendly and helpful. Considering how little it cost, the food wasn't bad, it was plentiful and healthy, and by eating at the hotel most nights, we could afford to eat out at good restaurants some nights and lunch times. This holiday cost us half of what we would have spent in a better hotel, all we asked was that it was clean and adequate, and it was more than this. I think some people expect too much from a two star, low priced hotel. Our only gripe was that they don't seem to realise that white wine (which was very nice) should be served chilled! For a two star hotel I have rated this as better than average.

Breakfast consisted of oranges, extra extra sugary cereal and slices of ham. That was it. Thank goodness we didn't go all inclusive. Staff did not make us feel welcome, didn't even acknowledge us when we went up to them. Good view from balcony and easy walk to bars restaurants and the little tram! Port de soller is lovely, hotel was horrid.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Citric Soller Hotel at the beginning of August for a week as a last minute budget holiday. Although we had read bad reviews we were satisfied with our stay. Most of the bad reviews on here are regarding the food which lucky for us we did not partake in. Much prefer to eat out!
We arrived at about 2am and even though we had asked for a sea room with a double bed we were given a mountain view with two single beds. We left it until morning to speak to the staff but we were told that they were fully booked for sea view rooms and double beds.
After reading the reviews I was expecting worse but I would say the most annoying things were the corridors became noisey either with guests going in and out or the cleaners. The large orange keyring that your key was on would bang on the door everytime you use it and that was always loud and echoed. The tiny lift broken down or more than two occasions but it only effected us if we were going out for the evening so that wasn’t too bad.
We were on the third floor with a balcony but the moutain slopes it means that its almost like being on the ground floor as people could walk past our balcony if they were looking for a short cut. This meant that sitting on the balcony or leaving the doors open you were likely to have someone walk past or look in your room. This is did come in handy when I was locked out and my boyfriend was asleep!
The staff were always pleasant whenever we were coming in and out and there was never a que at the bar when we wanted a drink before going out.
The location is amazing and its really nice to be able to go down to the terrace area that over looks the sea and have a few drinks before going out for the evening. The walk to the bars and restaurants is a nice causal stroll and the view is amazing.
Being in our twenties we still wanted to have a few late nights and were able to find some bars that let us drink until the early hours.
The Citic was only really a place for us to lay our heads, we were not fussed about the frills or food and although we didn’t get the room we had hoped for we had lovely neighbours on either sides and the rooms cleaned daily.

Stayed all inclusive for 10 nights in Augudat 2012. On arrival staff were half dressed and unhelpful. We were given the key to the room and left to find it ourselves at 5 am in the morning. The room was not the sea view that we had booked and only had single beds in. When we went back to complain and change rooms we were told we couldn't do this until the next day. The second room was better although there was no air conditioning and the rooms were far too hot in the summer heat. Fans were available at an extra charge per night. The food was bland, with no choice and resembled school dinners and not really worth eating. Hot meals were served cold and we ended up going to for meals even though we had paid for all inclusive. The drink choice was very limited - wine, beer and soft drinks only and finished at 10pm. After this we had to pay - even for bottled water despite not being able to drink the tap water. The staff numbers very limited - a couple were very helpful but the majority rude and unhelpful at best. The rooms were not cleaned properly, the bed linen was not changed in 10 days and towels only changed once! We had booked a late check out in advance as our flight was late at night only to be told two days before that we were not able to have this due to an over booking and then that we would have to change rooms again in order to allow a late check out!

The hotel is situated in a perfect location, the views and surroundings were beautiful and the local restaurants served lovely food!

We would not visit this hotel again - some serious work needs to be done to improve standards! We would strongly recommend people not to book this hotel!

(hello to the lovely couple from edinborough who kept us sane!)

You pay for what you get and in this case not a lot, bloody awful place, the only redeeming feature is its location. Don't be lulled into the all inclusive scam, the food is pitiful at best. Pay a couple of quid more for an alternative hotel and enjoy Soller.

We stayed here for a week in the middle of August on a last-minute budget break. Let's say first of all that it's a good deal cheaper than pretty much any other hotel in Port Soller and as such it's good value. It's clean, it's quiet at night and the staff are friendly, both the students and staff on reception. Location and outlook are good. We stayed on a room-only basis, but ended up opting in for breakfast: five Euros for a fairly decent buffet breakfast seemed a good deal. We also opted in for the evening meal (the source of some disquiet among previous reviewers, it seems) on a couple of occasions, and while it would be wrong to describe it as fine dining, it was OK, just a bit institutional. But complaints need to be put in the context of the fact that the cost was a mere seven Euros per person with house wine at another seven Euros a bottle.

There are, however, a few privations. Mallorca was very hot while we were there - high 30's during the day and high 20's at night - and without air conditioning, the rooms were intensely hot. It was worth getting one of the rented fans - three Euros a night - but even so... In the circumstances, bed sheets should have been changed during the course of our stay. They weren't.

We wouldn't rule out a return visit, but probably at a different time of year. The receptionist spoke of the attractions of walking in the nearby mountains in the spring. It sounded appealing.

Room Tip: The sea-view rooms are undoubtedly better, though hotter. Some guests were seeking to change from se...

We stayed at the citric as 2 couples on an all inclusive offer, yes the food is basic and a set menu, drinks do stop at 10pm on the ai offer but it is a budget hotel.its clean the staff are friendly and the views from the sea view rooms are beautifull. The village and port are very quaint,no modern highrise apparthotels no English bars with picture menus of English breakfasts .chips etc.ect.only nice tapas bars thats what going to spain is all about. If you do stay at the citric have an open mind treat the staff with the respect that you would expect to be treated with and you will have a nice holiday.

Room Tip: book a room with a sea view
