“Fishtastic!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Our hotel recommended this place to us for a romantic meal for 2. We weren't disappointed, although the meal ended up being a little messy.

To begin with you get to meet the fish that are brought round on a board. We noticed that the salt-crusted sea bass for 2 was a favourite with the other dinners.

We started with the red Soller shrimp (it was really nice to see a restaurant capitalise and promote local food) and the cockels in garlic. Both were delicious, messy and fun to eat (avoid these if you're trying to impress someone with your suaveness!) Then we had the traditional paella for two which was *massive* and destroyed both of us. The best, however, was saved to last as the desserts (creme Brulee and an orange pana cotta) were excellent.

It's not a cheap restaurant (although the Paella is actually remarkably good value) but you're also paying for the attentive staff and the great decour. If you're looking for somewhere to take a significant other for a bit of fish-based-luxury, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place than this (just maybe have a starter that doesn't require finger bowls) ;-)

“Best in Pollensa for that special night out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

If you're celebrating a special occasion there's no better restaurant in Pollensa. Get dressed up and take your credit card. It's not cheap but the quality of food and the service is fantastic. A booking is almost essential - any night of the week. The menu is extensive but they do specialise in fresh fish dishes. One that we'll definitely return to.

“Lovely, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Very attuned to a British expat/tourist clientele, the owner and staff are welcoming and service is first class, as is the setting. Our starters were 'chipirones' and fish 'croquetas'. The former were so-so to good (though we had better at a bar in the same town), the latter came with burned breadcrumbs leaving them bitter - careless cooking and of course they shouldn't have been allowed out of the kitchen (or accepted by us!). We had the special house paella for our main course which too was good without being in any way special (for example, we had a better version at a roadside buffet, Menestralia, near Buger). Good wines as reasonable prices, and they tried hard to make our 12 year old welcome and offer her a selection of child-friendly dishes. We would go again, but with lower expectations. This restaurant could, with a it more care in the kitchen, be special, but on this occasion I'm afraid it wasn't.

“If you love fish.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We love this restaurant and have been eating here for years. It's owned by a brother and sister who are always welcoming and friendly. The new layout of the restaurant means you can sit under the stars whilst enjoying your meal and overhead, lights hanging from wires light up your dining experience. The catch of the day is brought to your table on a large platter to help you make your choice and the portion size means you have to be hungry to manage both starter and main course. There is meat too and the desserts are always delicious and beautifully presented. Visiting Clivia isn't cheap and it's not designed for children but always a treat, so dress up and enjoy!
