“Worth visiting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

If you would like to widen your WW I knowledge, visit Kobarid Museum. It presents the epic story of the 1917 battle of Kobarid (Caporetto) from every possible aspect - from daily life of an average soldier, to the horrors of war. The visit is time-absorbing (in a positive way) because of many photos from that period which simply make you study them into details. Definitely worth both your time and your money.

“worth the time and money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

This is a sobering account of the hardships of troops during WW1. It's very well layed out. Allow a couple hours to see the whole thing. We were there when the president was visiting so got to see him and his security team. Kind of interesting.

“Battle of the Isonzo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

This museum reviews WWI. Initially, you'll watch a 20 min. video about WWI and particularly Battles of the Isonzo. You'll find a lot of info you've never known before. Then you'll visit several halls named white, black and some others which dedicated to Slovenian history, the horror of WWI, WWI attributes and finally miniature battle reproduction with plenty of photos. There are handouts on English, German, Italy, Slovenian languages. Now, they are looking to add some materials in Russian. There's a parking on the central square near the police department, 2 hours for free.

An eye opening museum on an side to the first world war that I believe few people know about. It is a great introduction to the local area and should be visited before you seek out the war relics in the hills around kobarid

This museum is well put-together, with photos, artifacts and a short movie about the events of WWI in the area.
